All of my Hall of Fame figures electronic weapons still work, I don't even know HOW To change those batteries. all of my Star Wars Episode 1 stuff from 15 years ago still works. You get a toy today and the batteries die in about two months.

I loooooooooooove the General!!!
I will never forget getting it in the christmas of 1991. The box was HUGE! I still have it today and have another General to complement it. I was able to repair part of the electronics box. The lights are very very fragile. I was trying to figure out what other lights would work they are kind of like a christmas tree light. |

The body of the General is the single largest use of plastic in GIJOE for one piece.

I recently picked up the 1990 General in a Star Wars / G.I. Joe collection that was in the seller's parent's attic for 30 years. It's 100% complete and overall in great condition. The side platforms have a few broken hinges which seems common. I am really excited to get it because I always thought it looked pretty cool.
The Headlight Lumination System with Audio Alert Capability doesn't work. It looks like the batteries were left in it and corroded over the years. I took mine apart, and as mentioned by someone else earlier in this thread, the wires connecting the circuit board to the battery contacts are fragile. Especially after 30 years! I know how the wires connect to the battery contacts. And I know how the wires connect to the circuit board on the right side because they are still attached. But I am not sure how the wires connect on the left side. Does anyone have a picture they can share? I want to resolder the connections and get it working again! Thank you in advance! (And be careful if you are opening it due to the fragile wires) |

(And be careful if you are opening it due to the fragile wires) I purchased a 1990 General for my boys twelve years ago when they were both quite young. They played very rough with that toy, but it was sturdy enough to survive the punishment. That lights and sound box was troublesome for us too. Our lights never did work, but the sound system did for a while. Eventually, the sound effects stopped working too, probably due to some battery acid leakage. It is massively oversized compared to our other vehicles. Unfortunately, we haven't done anything with the General since I took these pictures a couple years ago. Now it's just a neglected, forgotten toy that takes up space.

Playful - awesome pics! I love seeing the ME (Collector's Club) Joes from the 90/91 years on the General too!
Seeing it in comparison to the MCC and Rolling Thunder is quite something. LockOn - Congrats on acquiring a General! |
