I believe they said it would continue in a recent Q&A. Renegades figures would go under the PoC banner. |

its the fact that hasbro doesnt wanna make any other characters besides duke, snake eyes and storm shadow. i mean look how well star wars sells, because there are an abundance of characters in it!! sure there are multiple versions of a certan character, but theres OTHER characters in it as well to keep interest in the brand!!~

What if the brisk sales at the discount stores have led them to re-order ... Hasbro wasn't expecting such a strong response and now only has POC to ship to meet the holiday sales rush. I mean, how much less is POC at the discount stores? I've seen ROC at Ross for almost regular retail prices.
I have to think someone at purchasing for the discounters has noticed GI Joe flying off their shelves. The high price point and frequent sales has likely poisoned the well for GI Joe at the big box retailers. It would also make sense why wal-mart is dumping the brand. |

the only OTHER thing i can think of besides what i stated before... is that, retail stores has cut down on their joes, due to the ROC crap that was left behind.. i mean its been almost a year and a half later and ROC figures are still on shelves.... so hasbro having nowhere to send them is sending them to discount stores now so that they arent total losses

As for other retailers being angry that the stuff is available at discount at Ross...yeah, that's a possibility, but if the Target theory is true, all Hasbro really needs to do is point at them and say, "It's Target's fault." From my understanding, when it hits closeout stores, it's a matter of the original retailers selling it to them, not Hasbro directly. In other words Hasbro sells to Target, who then sells unsold stock to Ross/TJ Maxx/Whoever. |

TJ Maxx around here only has ROC stuff no POC. However their have been very valid points made in this thread. In the end from a business standpoint does Joe make Hasbro enough money to justify continueing it regardless of fans feelings. In business buying and staying power are what count. If Hasbro wants guarenteed store coverage they need to have a Disney like hold on liscences and buying power. Disney is one of the only liscences that tells big boxes like WallyWorld how much floor space they get and how much add space etc. Everyone else mostly gets what Wally tells them. Truthfully a Hasbro-Disney merger would solidify Joe and Marvel almost indef. In most markets. The mouse may be satan, but he has a lot of power. Look at copyright laws alone.
Personally I hope the toys showing up in 2nd tier retailers is just because of Christmas where a lot of those stores can make buying grabs because they can move product. |
