What about them?
Seriously, the only reason I scored any 25th W9 when it hit was because somebody bent some of the cards. Just don't damage the friggin' filecards and I'm happy. What really pisses me off lately is that when I go to the Hasbro Toy Store I have to wade through 5 pages of AFA graded shit. Things like that just make me openly hate and despise my own hobby sometimes. I truly hope never sell and HTS chokes on them so badly they never make the mistake of trying it again. |

Case in point:
Went to Ross today - 6 Joe packs, no Cobra packs. Must be the scalpers, right?! I mean, all the good stuff is gone! Except I happen know that it was another 'Tanker who bought all the Cobra packs. So a collector got all of them, not a scalper, despite the fact that it's the typical scenario brought up by the people who consistently complain about how scalpers must be beating them to it because the have no jobs. There's just no way to know if it was a scalper or collector. 's all I'm trying to say. |

Scalpers have to be observed over time to know what they are. We have a scalper at my walmart I work at and he is there every night trying to clean out anything short-packed or rare. He shows up right about unloading time and sticks around if he sees a box he may want to investigate. If this guy comes by, I can guarantee anything rare that was sitting around will be gone and junk left behind. The only time he fails is when we have too much of something like when we were overloading with TF2 crap and now IM2 toys. Other than that, this guy clears out anything from SW, GI Joe, to Yu-gi-oh cards and Barbies. He's really annoying.

Guess what .. where I am at the people that raid the pegs the hardest are generally the store clerks or the managers .. they know the value of the stuff hanging on the pegs, and know the value of the stuff sitting on their shelves, even if the store owners/corporate does not. If you ask a clerk about when stuff is coming out, they recognize you as competition and would rather make $4.00 or $5.00 profit rather than see something sold to a customer - so they generally don't give very good information. Do you think a store clerk doesn't know a Clear Wraith can fetch a lot more?
There was a Walmart manager that went to jail for a crime where I live, and on jail recordings, he told his twin brother (who also works at Walmart) what to watch for and how to watch for variants and things that sell well. They talk to their friends and the good stuff disappears fast. In fact, there is large amount of Walmart theft that is acceptable to Walmart and just a part of their cost of doing business (that is really sad). |

Have you seen the ROSS thread? I don't think scalpers have anything to do with it, it's all just 'Tankers!

I think the really great thing about the recent Ross AOCI/DOCI frenzy is that the packs being left behind have FAR more character for the kiddies to enjoy, the defense pack might be heavy on troop building but it is definitely light on character. And if I had to choose one of those two packs to introduce the new generation to ARAH joe it'd be a no brainer. So there's a silver lining in the recent crash and grabs. Dr. Mindbender vs Chuckles, Recondo, Outback and so on, yeah no brainer
