June, 1982. GIJoe the comic book #1 hit the shelves. On the first few pages Gen. Austin and Gen Flagg are discussing the Cobra Command threat and how to better fight it - then Flagg suggests they call Special Terrorist Group Delta, codename GIJoe. On the computer display board, the 14 members: Hawk, Zap, Grand Slam, Short-Fuze, Scarlett, Steeler, Flash, Grunt, Clutch, Stalker, Breaker, Rock 'N Roll, Snake-Eyes and... Shooter! Yes, Shooter. But Shooter did never appeared anywhere. In no mission. Why? Well, Shooter was just a ghost character named after Jim Shooter, GIJoe comic book editor at the time. It was just an inside joke. Nevertheles, there was never a Shooter figure, custom nor anything as far as I'm aware off - of course, no one has ever seen his face or his looks; The girl on the computer has her hand right over Shooter's face... His only appearance ever! But what now if we did get a Shooter figure - would you be all for it or what? If you got any Shooter customs (out of your own imagination or based on the actual Jim Shooter), post the pics here! If not, what about one, huh?
Cheers! |

I've seen a Shooter custom on here (I think) based off the Shooter character in G.I.Joe Declassified that goes back to tell the story of that missing Joe and why SHE doesn't show up again. Would love for Hasbro to make one though.

You should read "G.I. Joe: Declassified" by Larry Hama, published by Devil's Duke. It explains the "Shooter Issue".
Shooter is an African-American Army Master Sergeant. She poses as a Chaplain's Assistant, but is actually a Top Secret Sniper. Several Tankers and members of ebay have all made custom figures of Shooter based on that comic. Such figures continue to show up on ebay from time to time, or you could commission one of the talented customizers here on the tank. I could recommend several if you would like. It is often brought up on Hisstank that Hasbro should make a Shooter figure. I think everyone would generally support it.

I'm up for any female character who hasn't gotten released to get a figure. It would be even cooler to have it a mainstream released and not have to pay an arm and a leg for it...*I'm looking at you Carla "Doc" Greer

Larry Hama went back and did a 3 ish mini seires under Devil's Due and used "Shooter".
She was a sniper with the rank of SFC, I think, who didn't work with the rest of the Joes, actually seemed to be in deep cover. In her cover she worked with the actual chaplain's assnt's on Ft. Wadsworth, and the original Joe's didn't know she was one of them when they bumped into her on post. She supposedly died off panel in the mission depicted in Marvel's GI Joe #1 |
