So one of my pet peeves has always been the SEaL figures (both Joe and Cobra). They're portrayed as divers, that limits the "land" playability options.
Torpedo, Wet-Suit and the Eel. They're divers. There's no "land" to them. Tracker was the first land SEaL and well.... yeah.... we won't get into Tracker... Had to wait until VvV (or was it Spytroops) for a "land" Torpedo. But thankfully, with RoC we now have land/sea SEaL troopers for both Joe and Cobra. About damn time. The RoC Shipwreck comes with accessories for both land and sea use. The single carded RoC Eel comes with accessories for both land and sea use (well they're mostly sea use, but the figure looks more land and the air tank, that's not a diver's tank, that's a short swim tank, say the sub lets the unit a mile off shore and they swim in, perfect tank for that, not good for deep sea diving or extended time under water). RoC Deep-Six is even listed as a combat diver. So thank you Hasbro for finally fixing one of this fan's longest running pet peeves.

True that ROC Shipwreck is boss. Plus I’m one of the few that actually likes the ROC Eel also.

I just opened a RoC Eel. I have to say this is the first RoC figure I was disappointed in. In my collection, the Cobra version of the SEAL is the Paraviper. He seems more focused on fighting than swimming, but is clearly designed for both.

I really like the RoC Eel. It just looks cool to me. RoC Shipwreck is awesome too.
I thought the ME Cobra Divers worked well as sea/land troops since they came with automatic rifles, not harpoons. |

The ROC shipwreck is one of the best figures in the movie line, i think that Hasbro is making the figures more realistic than their previous Joe lines. Its obviously because of the new movie.

Hell, yeah.
I don't really like diver figures. Even as i thought that RoC Shipwreck looked cool, i was going to pass. But the moment i've seen him in hand, i had to buy it. The backpack is a Seal rebreather, which looks way better than a simple oxygen tank, and the figures doesn't look silly without a diver gear. I like the RoC eel too. And i don't meant that boring grey repaint, i mean the other black/red repaint. I like it, dunno why.

If an EEL was deploying out of water, we actually already have a couple options- he'd be kitted up as a Snow Serpent in the arctic, or as a Viper or Firefly anywhere else. Actually this might be a good custom project for me when I get home to help whittle down the horde of firefly repaints and make up for the lack of Eels I found.
For me the Paraviper looks focused on going out that plane- I'd rather see him in ground mode with his magazines not dangling around the family jewels and with the flippers and stupid arm fins stowed in a ricksack or left back on shore with the parachute. As for a Joe SEAL- just grab any old guy in cammies, give him an AK or a shotgun, and rub him inbetween your hands till he gets pissed off and stabs you. Ta-da! You have a Land SEAL! |

ROC Shipwreck technically isn't a SEAL.
He's a "Naval Commando". |
