Although a staple character, when waves 5 & 6 were coming together I sure was surprised to see General Hawk make the final roster. Mostly because POC seemed to have a "Resolute flavor" to it, & in Resolute there was no Hawk, so Hasbro broke my preconceived notions of POC's new direction & came out with a terrific battle ready figure!! To me POC now seems like a 21st century GI Joe more than a continuation of anything else, & it's characters like this Hawk figure that make POC more of a reboot universe than a continuation of ROC, Reso, 25th etc. as a product line.
He may be made up of all previously seen parts, like the '86 General Hawk head, Resolute Duke body, POC Dusty arms, POC Recondo legs, but with the paint & gear you can hardly tell, & many may think this is an all new figure if not well-versed in the current Joe-verse parts. The figure comes with a terrific pack-out of gear including a chin-strapped helmet w/removable goggles, Shock Vipers radio (which plugs into ~) Reso-Beachhead's vest, 86's Hawk's webgear & backpack, an assault rifle, a submachine gun, Reso-Destro's briefcase with flip out monitor & removable MP5, & a stowable pistol. All of this makes the figure look a bit busy but on the flip-side he can carry most of it all at once! The figure itself has a very nice range of motion thanks to the new POC parts that easily outshines the poseability of any other modern Hawk figure to date, & possibly out matches the ROC single carded version in that aspect. The only drawbacks to this figure is that the briefcase is not hinge-jointed to close which may lead to stress marks, & the gun inside is a bit softer plastic which makes it easier to get out but not as friendly to fans. Also I have heard mentions of this particular head sculpt looking to young for the character & it will take some adjusting to get the pistol into the holster with all of the gear he has on. This Hawk is the perfect addition to your collection if you are looking to make him more battle-ready as he is by far the most aggressive looking Hawk made in the modern era to date. Some may say that because of this he doesn't look enough like Hawk, as he is heavily armed & not trademark colors. That being said the off-gray/green provides a nice contrast to other Hawk's (& other current figures). Some may see this as a good troop builder base when customizing or even as an alternate character, either way I think this Hawk figure is outstanding & is easily one of my favorite "franken-joes" & additions to the POC line-up. Truly impressive in hand & all geared up! **** Recommeded!! Last edited by Steel Brigade; 12-28-2023 at 05:09 PM.. |

Pretty cool.
I already ordered two as fodder but maybe i'm leaving one as is (different name tho. I just keep one version of each character) It's remarkable how different a head might look depending if it's casted in flesh tone, or painted. That extra millimetric layer of paint makes a whole difference. Also, if you keep showing off your dang CS Scarlett on every dang picture, we who don't get one will get revenge. Someday, somehow! (i once criticized the size of pictures -were too big-. Now i'm suggesting to drop the white background. It's killing your pics. Maybe green, or light blue?)

Here it was because it was "CITY STRIKE" themed... In the JA Cobra Commander thread because it was all cancelled figures. In the Steel Brigade thread it was because Steel Brigade loves her... lol!! White background is the general preference we are advised to use on all these reviews. Sometimes the pics get washed out a bit in the photoshop process. I also have a blue colored rig that I may use for Arctic-white themed figures. Thanks for the feedback! |

Great review as usual. Looking forward to getting this figure but he's not Hawk in my Joeverse. This version of Hawk has been and always will be my Joe Commander. This Hawk, like POC Jungle Duke, will be another character.
