I saw the first one at TRU today too. As much as I'd like to have the one with hover mode, I never really liked the Mr. Fusion, so I'll probably get the one at TRU. Besides, it's $4 cheaper and I don't have to pay for shipping!

I have the Entertainment Earth exclusive Back To the Future II version.
I haven't read the review yet, but from my own experience I am a bit let down with it. The main thing that I don't like about it is that the sounds are not activated by moving the car parts. What I mean by this is that if you open the doors the thing doesn't make that cool door sound, and when you flip out the wheels for hover conversion it doen't make that cool hovering sound either. Also don't get me started on the switch that makes the wheels fold out for hovering because it sticks and it feels like I'm going to break it everytime I use it. With that all said let me list a few Pros and Cons. I will start with Cons first... Cons: 1-Not licensed by DMC. 2-Sounds are not activated by moving the car parts. 3-Switch for hover conversion sticks and is hard to move. (this might be on mine only.) 4-Tires are too loose and wobbly in hover mode. 5-Not made of metal. 6-Stickers peeling off due to poor adhesive. 7-Flimsy made plastic parts that are easily prone to breakage. 8-Exposed wires sticking out from places they shouldn't be. (This might only be on the one I received.) 9-Not entirely screen accurate. 10-No separate switches to leave certain lights on such as the headlights. Pros: 1-The scale...We can fit Joe's in this thing. 2-The lights...The blue "neon" is amazing! So is the Flux compasitor! 3-The weight...feels a bit heavy like metal even though it's plastic. 4-Hover conversion...Even though I'm not completely happy with it I'm still glad that it has this ability. 5-The packaging...I think the box looks great and so does the insert. This gives people a few display options. All in all I do like this piece, and for the price I paid for it I really shouldn't complain. I'm still upset about the fact that when I open the door or flip the wheels out for hovering it doesn't make any sound, but I guess I can get over it. I still wish that this was a Sunstar Delorean instead though.

I think if they made this a 1/18 scale car most joes would not fit the way the toy was designed. I think the problem is that the seats are not sunken in and contoured like a real Delorean so that a 1/18 figure would be able to get in.
Keeping in mind that it's a sports car it would be on the small side if it were 1/18 scale. I think the 1/15 scale is good so that figures will fit even if it seems oversized for a 3 3/4" figure. My Outback fits in well, but his feet don't actually reach the pedals. Heavy Duty seems to be more to scale with the car, but his head hits the roof when trying to close the door. When the figures are standing outside of the car it is apparent that the car scale is not the same. Being a sports car, Heavy Duty should tower over the top of the Delorean. BTW, what the heck did they do to Outback's leg. One leg is shorter than the other. Is that in his filecard? LOL! Overall not a bad vehicle for your Joeverse. Some time traveling stories leads to all kinds of possibilities. I think Duke and Snake Eyes need to travel back to the days of WW1 bringing some state of the art modern weapons with them. Or, Storm Shadow can travel back to the time of feudal Japan. |
