really? i'd imagine the only reason they haven't is probably Hasbro holding them off for a year ~ I'd be utterly shocked if next years set isn't a bunch of not-yet done ARAH folks Frankenjoed together out of existing molds with new heads.

I'm getting a set, since I am going to Joe-Con. I never had any of the of the figures from G.I. Joe's D.E.F. phase, so it's a welcome addition though I am still not excited on the colors they used.

I really like this set. I was hoping for a Headhunter set. I wasn't sure about the colors, but it would be hard to improve on the orginals.

I wasn't thrilled with the set at first (as I was hoping for v1 Eels) but it has grown on me a lot. The beautiful steel blue-gray (good scheme for urban environment) is a nice compliment to the black. HHST's and HH's aren't my favorite figures but the Collectors Club has done a great job on them. Combine that with a sweet set of Joes and it's a nice little set. I was a huge fan of the joes last year, but for the first time since the '04 con I felt that the cobra troopers (female troopers) were pretty lackluster.
I think a lot of people's opinions will change once they see the set in person. After all, last year a lot of people were down on the joes in the con set before the con. Afterwards opinions shifted to the positive. As far as doing a con set in the 25th style, I'm just not game for that. Like DPrime said, this is the only place us RAH fans can get our figures. Same with the 12" collectors. There are enough exclusives among the different big box stores to satisfy the strictly 25th style crowd. Especially since it seems a lot of you wouldn't drop the money for a con set anyway. |

Screw that, this is the only way us RAH fans get new stuff nowadays. Besides, if these WERE 25th style a lot of you still wouldn't get them because of the price - then you'd complain even more when they hit gold PDD/yellow Stalker prices.
The collector's club caters to people who have been collecting for a while and actually like the original figures - that's why they do 12" exclusives too. None of the RAH collectors say that they should stop giving 12" collectors exclusives, so why stop the RAH stuff? If you want 25th exclusives that's great, but they can do both. That being said I don't think this set is all THAT great - not a must have like last year's with the female troops in black. The teal (or apparently grey blue, whatever) isn't the most popular Cobra colour. I think they could have been a lot worse, but they could have been a lot better too. The Stormtrooper is my favourite thus far, though.

I'm surprised you didn't like the female troops from last year though, I think they look great! It'd be nice to get regular female Blueshirts at some point though. Quote:

I think it looks awesome. Too bad they couldn't tool the the legs. Is still awesome. I think the convention sets should be RAH. Not everyone loves the 25th. Plus where the RAH collectors would get new stuff or re-decos?

You know, if they had been female blue shirts with normal style cobra trooper helmets . . . . I could have really gotten behind that (heheheheh)
