Aside from the O-rings it looks as though these guys are heading in the direction Hasbro should have gone in a long time ago (or never stopped doing in the first place). seems they want to make a company putting out the kind of stuff Joe collectors are always asking for.
Like others have said, the O-ring is a big disappointment and if the vehicles can't fit the new Joes that will not be a good thing at all because I’m sure Joe collectors would make up a big part of their sales. Looks really cool though. I think the line is pretty much aimed at continuing what we loved about the ARAH line; being an action vehicle line. Once GI Joe returned to mass market retail in 2002, large vehicles were seen less and less, especially once the 25th line was released, leading up until now. I think MMI recognizes that the current Joes we have are top notch, but that there is a void to be filled with the vehicles. A gap they are willing and definitely able to fill. Quote:

I'm sick of this stuff. We all see the art and we all say that's pretty. I want to see the Figures. I want to see how the SK Omega figures look now. I want to see if the O-Ring makes them look like the old Gi Joe or the new one. If they look like the new I say awesome. I like the mobility of the legs that O-Ring figures have.

I think the vehicles are made to be compatible with all 3-3/4-4" scale action figure lines. I mean we all pretty much can admit we look forward to this line to complement our Joes.

This is what i am thinking...they can bank on making us awesome vehicles that hasbro is dropping the ball on...especially the larger base ideas and heavier sized vehicles...if they can survive making them...i.e. they are quality enough to inspire us to jump on them and depending on thier retail price. The missile base looks similar to Joe stuff, but i don;t think they can really get to picky about it...Any box with a missile sticking out of it and called a "missile base" theres only so many ways you can build a missile base and not make it look like something else already in place lol...look at the True Heros Missile carrying truck...its a little different but is close to th eidea put forth by the Rolling thunder in a way... If Rudat and Cassaday could make kick ass designs in the 80's, just imagine the stuff they can come up with now. |

Anybody with photoshop and a graphic tablet can make nice concept art. I'll reserve judgement until we see some actual product.
At the very least I see a lot of potential, though. |

I'll give them their fair chance.
Provided, of course, they start cranking out some decent vehicles and guns. I'll kitbash the hell out of this line! |

While I hope this line is successful and we actually get to see some of these vehicles and such in a fully realized form, I have a feeling this line will either never make it off the ground, or will fail horribly due to being more expensive than most people are willing to pay for the "large" vehicles.
Small production runs (if they're only going to Target and TRU) + large molds + supposedly high-detail = High Price Tag. Even most of the folks drooling over the concept art will "wait until clearance." The line dies after one wave/assortment. |
