Lastly, I know some have said that they think the brown eyes variant of Beach head is the most common. I'm starting to feel more and more confident that that is wrong. I feel pretty confident that the blue eyes version is far more common. I've looked at a lot of listings on eBay. Hard to say for sure without knowing the actual production numbers, just basing it on what I've seen. Also mention that I took a picture of my blue eyes Beach head, and I'll be damned if they don't look Brown in the photo. You have to look real close at an eBay listing before you can tell for sure, and sometimes even then you can't tell for sure.

You know, I really do try to be sympathetic to the Target employees and the fact that they're getting hassled over this Cobra Island stuff. When I got my Baroness, I could *tell* the worker who got it for me probably felt like she had "Cobra Island" tattooed on the undersides of her eyelids from the look on her face when I asked about Baroness. So I went out of my way to be nice to her, joked with her about how mad my wife was that I'd run out of the house and driven 40 miles for a toy, and made a point to let her know how much I appreciated her willingness to scan the tag for me.
I tried to do the same thing with my second, more disappointing trip, but the two employees I dealt with just weren't having it. And, hey, I don't know that I didn't come in right after some super verbally abusive customer went all, "COBRA TROOPERS, THIS I COMMAND!", on them, but, again, I have never, ever, ever had a retail employee be so rude, dismissive, and condescending towards me, even in the face of my pretty satisfactory PR skills. When I was in college, I dressed up as The Joker and got a friend to follow me around with a boombox that played Prince's songs from Batman '89. I went into Walmart and danced through the aisles until they kicked me out, and, even in that situation, I was treated with more respect! The two workers I last encountered on the disaster trip, right or wrong, were clearly over all this G.I. Joe stuff and had absolutely no desire to do anything more than wave me away. And, yeah, that's shitty. I've worked a lot of lame retail jobs before, and I'm sure I wasn't always the most cheerful guy in the world with every customer interaction I've ever had, but damned if I ever outright tried to shame someone over a purchase. I sincerely wish that I had bothered to at least get the name of the dude who chortled when I explained to him that I'd driven a long way ("for some TOYS?" was his response), because it was 100% a mistake not to try and escalate that situation. I doubt it would have gotten me a Trooper, but I'd have the satisfaction of knowing that the rude guy was at least reprimanded for his attitude. At the end of the day, it is your job, and the fact that some aspects of your job may suck sometimes doesn't give you the right to take it out on others. Ah well. I "gave up" on Cobra Island that afternoon. Fortunately, a friend of mine in Georgia managed to score me a Beachhead, though it'll be awhile before I get him. I've still got some folks who live closer to Targets than I do checking every now and then to try and score me my second Trooper, but I've come around to the fact that it's not a big deal. I'm luckier than a lot of collectors have been with this line, especially given how far away my nearest Target is! And besides.....I've still got 3.75" figures to buy. |

RE: blue/brown beachhead eyes. I'm pretty sure the brown is just missing the blue paint app. The eyes are painted pretty realistically on these figures, I think the "brown" is the outline of the iris and the blue is the inner part. So the "brown" eyes are just missing the blue paint app.

My local Target has increased their stock one figure at a time for the past three weeks. There used to be one Roadblock pegwarming. Then, last week, a second joined him. Now, this week, there are three Roadblocks hanging out.
I still have not seen a single other Cobra Island figure. I have been checking Popfinder - but have never seen any stock numbers increasing. So, the question is... where are these Roadblocks coming from? Returns? |
