Went to Wal Mart yesterday - all of the pallets of toys I saw the week prior were gone however the shelves still looked pretty bare. All I saw were 2 Hiss IIIs. Not sure if some fucko scalpers took the figures or if they were not stocked at all.

Tell Wal-Mart that you expect to sell 1000 of a product nationwide and you're going to be laughed out of the room. EDIT - never mind, 600 was *just Texas*. That makes sense, as I know there's about 500 across Canada. 5342 in the US as a whole. Figure each one of those needing six of a particular item to be viable, and... yeah, 30K is your minimum. I think Hasbro has realised that collector-focused female figures will sell, though. The argument is more for mass market stuff, where they're more likely to make multiple figures of their one or two "name" female characters - think Windblade or Arcee in TF - rather than have a large range of them. Only the Retro line is Walmart exclusive, generally speaking.

I wish they'd tell that to the people scalping the retro Scarlett on ebay. She was one of the first few retro figures I wanted but could never find and I'm not paying $60 for her.

Also don't forget what an adult collector will buy and what an 8 year boy will play with are very different things. I didn't aspire to own Cover Girl, Scarlet, etc. when I was a kid. Totally different story now.

I reckon a female cobra trooper might do well considering scalpers nab every one of the male versions.

Just from glancing around, it feels like that first wave of carded figures was produced in a LOT lower numbers than we've seen for Stalker / Trooper and onward. Since production apparently switched countries the line's changed to more figs like Scarlett, updated builds of figures. Last edited by GeoffDes; 08-17-2021 at 07:22 AM.. |
