Cobra Trooper is a solid figure. Feet are big, but even the hands aren’t bad in person. There is an aesthetic disconnect between it and Joes of old, but I think it’s pretty good. Honestly. A little paint detail would have made a big difference. I’m going to add some and see how it goes.

That's what i keep saying. Look at the recent Renegade figure or X Lord or the Scientist. Those don't even remotely resemble what is going on with the Fang Pilot.

Yeah, the closest thing the FANG Pilot/Trooper resembles to me are the Spy Troops/VvsV New Sculpt-era figures.

I think if we hadn’t gotten an update since the 2007 25th verison most of us would have probably swooned over the new one. For me, it’s falls short of the existing 30th trooper. That’s just personal preference. While there were some small improvements one could have made to that 30th mold for vintage accuracy, I’d rather Hasbro did for the Trooper what they did for Destro. Take that winning sculpt and improve it with just a few touches. Quote:
i realized last night that i should really try to color correct my own photos of this guy to walmart and normal people soft white bulbs. i use cold leds side lights and daylight bulbs on my overhead desksize lamps bc i hate unnecessary yellow in pics. but since pics here are more for other people's initerest for this figure I'll try to set colors more to people's normal lighting--hopefully later tonight.
i thought zaps pics were most accurate to daytime window lighting for reference.

Your photos are as fantastic as your custom work man. I wouldn’t change a thing.

STALKER QC
Though I picked up 3 Stalkers on Saturday, I went hunting for more Sunday night (found 2 more, got 2 more). One of the main reasons I wanted a few more was because one of the 3 I picked up Saturday had some QC issues. I’m sure you’ve noticed in my Hawk and Stalker (Halker? Stawk?) pic is Stalker’s left boot turned pretty wide out yet foot pointing out the right way. The disc for the foot connection on that foot was not cast right and rotates at a weird angle. Hopefully the pic below gives an indication of what’s going on, and it drove me crazy yesterday (along with Cobra Trooper’s loose wobbly left leg). 2021-06-13_10-13-05 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr I’ve actually seen this same thing happen at the foot of a 25th figure, but can’t remember who. The foot was cranked down out of package, and kinda stuck that way. The feet are visible in the clear packaging, so I guess…avoid one’s with turned down feet? Other thing to avoid is a face that looks kinda off like this one I found last night: 20210613_213937 by HissHissFangFang, on Flickr Something looks kinda off? What do you all think? |

I can see they were going for a more animated appearance in this wave. Which brings up again the main problem in this line: it's all over the map in execution, quality, style...pretty much everything but card art and price. It's just a mess and no cohesion. There are some diamonds but who wants to start collecting something so patchwork in quality?

While I agree about the sculpt mixing across the line, I don’t see a more animated style. Stalker looks fucking amazing- wish they would have committed the whole line in this style and perhaps there’d be less issue. I do feel like there’sa psychological component that people are responding to, as well
