They don't own it tho. Hasbro has NEVER used a part that was made for the club, and there are many examples (such as 50th Outback) where the Club made a new headsculpt for a character and then later when Hasbro revisists them they make their own new head. What most people forget is that the club was NOT Hasbro but was a third parted that was granted license to use Hasbro's molds and properties.
And as for why a new head? Maybe they are bridging the Classified to the 1:18 line and maybe CAD files are easy to scale down (rather than up). I've been looking at my classified Scarlett and the new head sculpt although still blurry, bone structures are kinda similar but hairpiece is new (it's a separate file anyway) Last edited by Pimp Daddy Darklon; 09-19-2020 at 10:02 PM.. |

I wonder what the legality of Hasbro essentially casting a Club head would be? It’s their licensed product, but the Club presumably still owns the tools used to create their own heads like the Adventure Team figures or Big Boa. Essentially the Big Boa tooling is worthless to whomever owns it, right? (unless Hasbro got it from the Club).

Wouldn't the SAW Viper be an example? I know, it's not a head, but the helmet. First the SAW Viper was put together by the Club and then Hasbro put him in the 50th line. Was SAW Viper's helmet molded by the Club? Or was the helmet just from the v3 SAW Viper? Or was SAW Viper in the Hasbro Concept Case?

It's all supposition. There's no evidence Hasbro has access to the clubs tooling - or anything definitive that they don't. We just know they've never used anything created by the club. The reference to 50th OB was due to Hasbro using the 25th OB head instead of the newer club one. the blub one was clearly superior, so it begs the question why Hasbro wouldn't use it if they could. We know the TF Roadblock head was sculpted by Hasbro and was originally intended for an Amazon release. We don't know if the club paid for tooling or use of the head and has any proprietary right to it. FRIW, the Renegades RB vest / head that was also originally part of the Amazon set was later released by Hasbro as part of a SDCCC exclusive. Perhaps, as was suggested, it doesn't matter and Hasbro just wanted to make a RB that was a bridge between their 1/18 and 1/12 scale releases. I'm hoping Hasbro does have access and the rights to all the club tooling. It's exciting to think about the possibilities. |

I scored a baroness for free. I got one off ebay and it pretty much arrived with the card crushed to hell. Figure was fine as far as I can tell except for some dented/torn bubble. I told the seller and he told me to keep it and refunded my money. I just asked for half. Im guessing maybe he insured it?

the Club is dead they owned nothing! Quote:
those factories would have the molds or warehousing the molds in Hasbro's name or maybe Hasbro ordered them destroyed

I can’t see H licensing their IP without retaining the rights to use the tools themselves. That seems like a no-brained on their part.
Also, a noted above, the TF RB head was Hasbro’s to begin with and they opted not to use it in favor of the current one.
