As someone whos only found a Snake Eyes laying on the ground after going down a toy aisle that looked like what can only be described as a band of hungry vikings pillaged it, please hold off on buying multiples till some time has passed. Youre taking away opportunities from people finding these all so you can cut them apart and Frankenstein something together.

I’d normally ignore something like this, but a Hisstank Johnny-come-lately categorically insulting all customizers because he’s frustrated with a problem that plagues all of us is out of line. Sorry you’re not finding what you want, but an earnest fan leaving them behind doesn’t guarantee the success of others. 9 for 10, your issue is with scalpers, not customizers.

I get the sentiment behind the idea that customizers/army-builders/buyers of multiples oughta wait until a toy is plentiful, but that's just not how things work. First of all, there's no guarantee you'll see a figure again, so you better buy what you want while/if you can. Second, as already stated, that's mostly because of scalpy fuckers creating false shortages, not your average collector/customizer. All of these issues keep coming back to the same thing: impatience and lack of self-control that cause collectors to buy from scalpers. Stop buying from scalpers at ridiculous prices and make it not worth their while. Until that happens, we're always gonna have scalping-scarcity.
Problem is, many collectors are actually scalpers too who fund their own hobby through scalping. It has become part and parcel with collecting: overpay a scalper for something you REALLY want, then find stuff you know will be in demand, buy all of it to resell for inflated prices so you can justify overpaying scalpers for things you can't find. Long story short, this is a shitty hobby nowadays.

The hobby is in a much better place now than it was during the POTF days.
I get the frustration over scalpers, exclusives, and high secondary prices, but it's much easier to find stuff now that Hasbro is doing broader releases to Amazon and Pulse. Even Walmart.com and Target.com are usually better than they've shown in the last few months. Does anyone remember what it was like to get the first waves of Black Series? Or when MP Transformers were only available from Japan-based retailers? Or MattyCollector? Things are much better today than they were five or eight years ago. Cobra Island and a few other bad exclusive decisions are fueling frustration with the secondary market. But I've had to use the secondary market a lot less (as in, basically never) for new Transformers, Black Series figures, and GI Joe stuff than I used to.

I'm talking about the GI Joe toy-collecting market specifically. Joe collectors used to not have to deal with the Star Wars collecting bullshit as much. We're used to being able to preorder without issue and even find stuff in stores. Shit, we could even find TRU exclusives in stores without much problem. And remember how easy it was to find the Target exclusive 25th Anniversary vehicles? How long do you suppose $25 Conquests and Rattlers would sit on the salesfloor these days? Not long enough to reach clearance, that's for sure. But the more collectors in general get into GI Joe, the worse it gets. That's just how shit works though. Long-time Joe collectors who didn't venture hard into other lines aren't used to the increased competition yet...or weren't at first.

For sure! Remember comic book crash of the nineties? That was great!

I have been wondering about the retro vehicles for this line. If they will actually get any shelf space at Walmarts which there doesn’t seem to have been any designated space made for them yet. Maybe they will only be able to be purchased on Pulse or the other usual online stores like BBTS or even Amazon at some point.

Yep, that was what came to mind for me as well, the 90s comics era with all the speculating and exclusive covers, foil covers, etc.
