Yeah, but not usually after 9 months. Publishers don't typically scrap and relaunch a series after such a short timespan if the series is doing well. I'd say this is a sure sign of underperformance. If IDW felt Joe and Mask could succeed as separate books, I'm sure that's what they'd be doing. And if they are underperforming, I can't say I'm surprised - the comics haven't been overly impressive so far.
Cobra Commander is in Revolutionaries right now. |

I think it makes sense for some crossover or even merging of the brands. MASK can be a feature of Joe vehicles. "Now with MASK technology!" It would be a cool selling point for Joe vehicles, if this was applied to the toy brands.

Uh that's kinda splitting hairs. Technically Tomax is Cobra Commander, but I mean a traditional Cobra Commander. Krake is fine, but I'd bring back the one that was supposedly killed and treat him more like a traditional CC.

Eh, I'd much rather they just introduce a new Cobra Commander who is more traditional than bringing back the one who was killed.

When they start merging books that's not a good sign. Although it could be worse at least they're not Marvel. I'm a hick from Wyoming what the hell is a Social Justice Warrior?

That's not what it's really all about it's money. If writer or artists create new characters Marvel owns them and the get more of the profit then the people who actually created them do, that's why we have Image. They did the same thing to Jack Kirby from the 70's onward. So the writers and artists just replace the old guard with they're half assed attempt at showing diversity, and blame the people who call them on they're b.s. and stop buying a garbage product. No it's not about being pc it's about what it's always been about money.

The current writer posted on facebook that one member of MASK will be joining the team and called the title "misleading."
"Social Justice Warrior" is a pejorative term for those who express socially liberal or progressive views. As far as Marvel's "diversity." I think they had a hit with Ultimate Spiderman so they went a little crazy creating similar counterparts for other characters. Nobody really got "replaced." DC actually went way further with this. I think what affects their sales more is constant renumbering and launching multiple tie-in books for every new series.
