I think you have to either include all the vehicles or reduce the cost by what you could get by reselling the vehicles separately to have a fair list. The vehicles do add value and shouldn't be seen as just an accessory to the figure.
There's also the fact that some of the Joe TRU figures are rereleases which shouldn't be included from the perspective of a completist who already has them. Of course removing those would bring the average price up since they're the cheapest releases. The MOTU Classics figure releases for this year so far will cost $817 for 27 items including both subscriptions and 2 additional figures. That's $30.26 per item so far plus shipping which is a necessity to get everything. I would say shipping would bring up the price to closer to $35 per figure if you do quarterly shipping, or more if you do monthly. There will also be an SDCC item and maybe other figures to add on as well. Technically a couple of those items are 2-packs, so if you count them separately the average might come down slightly. Basically, that confirms what people have discovered before, that the club charges about the same for Joe figures that Matty does for MOTUC figures, even though MOTUC figures are larger and would cost more at retail...probably twice as much. However, in the club's defense, MOTUC seems to have a consumer base of 5,000-10,000 subscribers. It's doubtful the club has nearly that many buying the FSS. And we know the con figure production is far lower. Anyone know why the Bazooka is selling for so much more than the Felino? I wonder if the figures sell for a closer price when they're sold individually without the vehicles. Just wonder if the jeep drives up the price more than Bazooks himself. I would assume, though, that any of us that have been doing this long enough, know we're going to spend a bunch of money on joes. It is what it is. Whether a figure is a rerelease or not, the bottom line is this- if you buy the figure, it's gonna cost money. Whether is has a vehicle or not, it's gonna cost money. The breakdown per each might be different, especially if you sell the vehicle off, but if you buy it, it's money spent, plain and simple.

And as a figures only person, I kind of view the vehicles as the price of getting a figure I want as most of the time vehicles don't have much trade-in value. Luckily I have a 10 year old who is happy to have them. And I try not to think too hard about the cost of collecting. If I used the money on a vacation instead I think I'd be less happy. |

I agree with JediJones, that's not really a fair assessment since you're not tossing the vehicles in the garbage, they have value and you could sell them to offset what you spent on the set.
If you do happen to just toss your vehicles in the garbage, I'll take your glorious orange HISS and the beautiful Cobra Skystriker. Staff Edit Check your PM's |

And collecting should be fun; if you're spending money that you don't have or should be spending on something else, then don't.

Back in 1985 (possibly the best GI Joe year ever), 20 new figures and 21 new vehicles/playsets were introduced. To get everything new would have cost about $260 (per yojoe.com) - not accounting for inflation. |

The discrepancy in prices in absurd. Three times as much for club stuff? That is the reason I have nothing they have ever made.

By contrast, I plan to spend $65 dollars on official Joe this year. My Marauder bill is going to be sky high, though.
