Joe Pack: I'll buy one, and only one.
Outback: I like what they've done with his vest, since I always thought the white "SURVIVAL" shirt looked kinda lame. I might have even bought him single carded, despite the fact that he came after my childhood interests in Joes began to fade. Recondo: Despite the fact that his eyes remind me of Puss N Boots' sad face in Shrek 2, I think this will be a great figure if they get his hat and gear correct. Zap: Looks great! Not much more to say. If only Breaker, Grunt, and Short Fuze had been given similar treatment... Chuckles: Was never one of my favs, but I think the more subdued look is a change for the better. Hit & Run: one of the few post-'86 new characters that I liked. Looks okay so far, but his gear will also be key. Wet Suit: an pretty uninspired Torpedo repaint, but then again I thought the original was a kinda uninspired Torpedo replacement. Hopefully his helmet looks cool. Ripcord: Glad we're getting him, but his gear will make or break the figure. Wish he had a unique head sculpt. Cobra Pack: Though I'm a Cobra troop builder, I don't need any of the figures in this pack in truly mass quantities and at least one (the Night Creeper) I don't need at all. At least there is no Python Patrol. Dr. Mindbender: I'm kind of embarrassed to have such nostalgia for this figure despite my dislike for Serpentor, Cobra-La, etc., but I do. Wouldn't mind seeing a labcoat version as well, however. Still want a Dr. Venom figure, too... Range Viper: One of those latter-day "rainbow Vipers" I hated as a teenager, I might actually get a small team (2-4) of these guys. Glad the helmet comes off. Alley Viper: I actually regret never buying the classic ARAH figure, and though I'd prefer a higher blue to orange ratio I can see myself getting up to a half dozen of these guys. Lampreys: I really like the way this figure is shaping up, but as a Moray pilot. Not the kinda guy I'm gonna troop build in mass quantities. Damage BAT: Hopefully the final figure has a wash applied to it like the carded guys as well as an extra intact head. Night Creeper: Although not a huge fan of the original Night Vipers, they would've been 10 times better than these guys. A Techno or Toxo Viper would've been 20 times better. If I do some troop building with this set, I will gladly trade these for some Red Sigil/Black Mask Troopers. Hell, even the Red Ninjas have more appeal to me. Strato Viper: Sweet! I'm gonna need extras. since when Hasbro finally releases the real Night Raven next year I'm gonna need co-pilots...right? Actually, they'll work just fine as extras for my Rattlers. |

That's too bad. I'd much rather have a Night Viper than a Night Creeper. I really started to get annoyed with G.I. Joe when it went from a military and special missions theme to a ninja showcase. But, I'm cool with it. I'm also hoping Mindbender comes with the exact cape we see in the pictures. It's likely a vintage Mindbender cape if these are preproduction mock-ups, but I think it's vastly superior to the plastic ones I've seen on some customs. Those just don't look right to me. I am really looking forward to these sets. But finally getting to see them is a double-edged sword. I've seen them and I really like them. Now I have to sit here and look at the pictures, rather than the figures themselves, for the next how ever long it takes to get them. After that, I'm also looking forward to a long vacation from the sudden two and three dollar price hikes and endless repacks. There's a silver lining to not being very interested in the movie. |

where online do you even order exclusives -- Who would i go through to get these? do the vipers get helmets -- does recondo even have a hat -- if they MAX OUT on the weapons and accessories - it MAY be worth it -- a custom mindbender - if i do it myself - will come out crappy and cost at least 15 in supplies and the more in time -- For a custom mindbender, outback - range viper and alley viper at 15 each -- I would not mind paying 45 per pack online exclusive -- save time stress and dollars -- if anyone can do a custom for you at less than 15 and it looks as good and is playable -- buy it

These all look great but I would rather send a BAT to TTT and have him battle damage it.

The Joe one is awesome, glad to see it's all-new characters, despite some weak entries, if you ask me. I still don't know why we're missing guys like Lowlight and Footloose when we're getting some odd entries (Chuckles & H&R? "Altitude"? Ripcord is more like it...)... The Cobra set seems pretty solid, except it sucks for troop-builders who want to build a few of the Vipers in the set and not all... At least they're all pretty awesome, so getting 2 sets gives me at least 2 of each, and all I'm getting duplicates of is Mindbender (who is awesome to finally get, btw) If the price-point is decent on this set, it fairs better for those wanting ALL the figures, but I wonder why they're abandoning single-carding them...
Although I prefer this lineup over Wave 14's previously listed lineup, I just wish these guys were single-carded. Better as two 7-packs than not at all though. Hooray for Outback, Recondo, Zap (needs his mustache though) and Wetsuit...(although after reading comments, I realize that the Diver Duke would be closer than this Torpedo repaint) "Altitude" has to be classic Ripcord... Glad to see him... Is that another John Wayne head though? Or a new sculpt? Looks a lot like Red Star. Although a good head sculpt and having good paint apps, as far as character choices Chuckles is meh, so is H&R. Again, at least they're all new characters. The Cobra pack is downright solid... Can't wait to see them with all their proper gear and actual production pics... They're definitely all mockups as far as the craft is concerned... I'm sure there will be slight changes before they hit virtual shelves. |
