Ok, I'll take your word for it. Im just trying to figure out how this whole thing is popping out of nowhere and we still have literally nothing to show for it.
I still have faith is Hasbro's future JP lines.. they may not be huge, but I suspect what they do make will be very nice. Those Dino and vehicle prototypes shows me they know what the fans want. |

Heck, Transformers fans didn't even know what the Voyager class Megatron figure released AT retail last year looked like until it was actually on shelves. Such a thing hadn't happened since...Beast Wars, IIRC.

Eh, I think some of you have far too exaggerated expectations for this line.
Assuming IF (and that's a big if) Hasbro produces actual human characters for the line next year, I would almost guarantee that they will basic, 5 POA figures like we're seeing with practically all of Hasbro's "short duration" (ie, tie in) lines this year. Granted, though, at least their sculpting skills have improved to the point I think the sculpts will look as close to the actors as is possible (assuming likeness rights are granted). I do NOT expect an elaborate line. I do NOT expect GI Joe level product. The most I see GI Joe impacting the line is with a few accessories or maybe a vehicle reuse, at best. |

It's something that intrigues me as well. Take the Avengers and Iron Man 2 line. They had an articulated Iron Man 2 Iron Man mkVI figure at their disposal for reshipping. Instead, they sculpted and cast an all-new figure of the same Iron Man armor for the Avengers line. I've always been under the assumption that making a figure's mold was the most expensive part. Yet, instead of reusing existing figure molds, they're casting all-new ones. Seems odd to me.

I agree with your logic and the conclusions you are drawing. What I don't agree with is Hasbro's logic. Yes the cost of the mass production on a 5 poa figures is lower than for GI Joe, because there are less labor hours cleaning the parts up and putting the figures together. But when you factor in the sculpting phase and more importantly the tooling phase I just don't see it as being cost effective. I would think the cost of sculpting and tooling would be more than the increased cost of putting more complex figures together.

I mean, Hasbro even went to the effort of remaking their mid-sized (Class II) Star Wars vehicles this year. Rising costs caused that segment to inch to the $25 pricepoint (if not $30 in some markets). They went to the effort of remaking them (smaller size, more hollow parts, etc) and that managed to get the price down to $20. The presumption being it was now cost effective for a parent to get a vehicle and figure for less than $30 (last year's pricing would have cost a parent almost $40 for roughly the same product). I see this as some wacky compromise between reducing investment in short duration lines (Wolverine will be on pegs through Christmas at best, so why make super articulated figure on stuff that will sell for 6 months then be dumped?) and increasing profitability on long term sellers (Hasbro can sell those 5 POA Star Wars figures for YEARS, justifying ANY tooling expense)

Eh, that's not too new anymore. On the whole, the "early leaks" have largely dried up across the board for ALL of Hasbro's lines, even for those big brands like Star Wars and Transformers.

Sorry to double post, but I thought people here would find this interesting:
So I called Hasbro- They have images internally and descriptions for the item if you give them the Hasbro Item #. So, I gave them the item # for the Pachyrhinosaurus Clash (A3896) and I can now confirm it comes with a human figure! Her description: The Dinosaur is brown with tan and blue and a few other colors (sounds like JP2009) and comes with a human figure that is articulated, he is wearing a hat and comes with a machine gun (Jurassic Joes?). The description talked about a showdown between the human and dino. The Pachyrhino has a head ramming action if you pull back one if its legs! She said she would let the webmaster know that the items are not listed on the public website yet.She said she doesn't have exact info on when the items should be in stores other than they are guaranteed this month and can start popping up as soon as today. I want to give a shoutout to Hasbro here- whomever helped me on the phone was incredibly helpful, resourceful, nice and eager to help. --- Anyways, whats interesting to note is that there are no JP3 humans with hats that this could be describing, so odds are its a Jurassic Joe. I can't think of Jurassic Joes with hats either though, so I wonder if its the Awe Striker driver and she mistook hims helmet for a hat. None the less, it seems two Jurassic Joe figures will see release! |

I'm pretty excited about this line if those human figures turn out to be frankenjoes.
