Are u serious? You were totally okay with the Ninja Turtle Vipers? You would rather see those costumes then the original Blue uniforms and helmets of the Cobra Troopers and Officers.
So if Hollywood wanted to make another movie about Babe Ruth or a movie about the Yankees again, and decided to give them neon green jerseys and neon orange pin stripes, instead of the Yankee blue pinstripes, that would be okay? What is wrong with trying to at least come close to some of the original character costumes? Quote:
ok here is the thing we all can go back and forth on this but it dosent matter what we say on what should change or be redone. they made roc it failed to do what it was supposed to.
now hold on i know what most will say it made money blah blah blah. here is the thing it didnt do its job with backing or making the toy line a success like the Tf movie did. that was 1 major job that it needed to do and it failed.

It was a G.I. Joe movie, not a G.I. Joe ARAH movie. If you want original G.I. Joe designs in a movie, buy a copy of Big Red One; because, this is the original character design.
ROC didn't fail. Hasbro marketing failed. If you want kids to buy your toys, you don't put all your hopes on a teen oriented movie. You broadcast 20 sec commercials during kid's programs. Transformers toy commercials are shown nearly everyday. I think I've seen 3 G.I. Joe toy commercials during the entire 25th/ME/ROC run (one of them may have been wishful hallucinating). Remember how many Joe toy commercials we saw as kids. Ads in comic books aren't going to cut it. When was the last time you saw a kid in a comic shop? When was the last time you saw a teenager in a comic shop? Most of the comic shop patrons I've seen were college age or older. If they want POC to succeed, they better make sure they make sure some stellar commercials make it on to basic cable. A cartoon on a premium package cable network is going to fall short of their marketing expectations. |

I think they should have rebooted the whole franchise (movie and toys) and started over with a fresh new cast of characters. Similar to what happened to G.I. Joe in 1982. They tried something new that year with ARAH and hit the jackpot. It could of happened again. Instead of "repainting the toys" from our youth and trying to sell them to kids today they could of given them something that was unique. Change is what gave us ARAH.

Sure, I say reboot.
I actually kind of liked the film for what it was, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't rather have seen characters and themes a lot more like what I grew up with. EDIT: And I don't give a damn about why/why not the film was good/bad, "epic fail", why Paramount and Hasbro did what they did for business reasons, etc, or that 1980s GI Joe isn't the "original" GI Joe. I'm just stating my preference.

It is amazing to me at the time of this posting that only 10.11% of people who have voted prefer the RoC movie in its present condition.
Over whopping 90% of people who have voted believe the movie should be changed to some degree!!!! That should tell you something Hasbro and Paramount.

I voted for the "I think they need to gloss over or ignore things from the 1st film" option, not because I didn't enjoy the first movie, but because I recognize that a lot of fans didn't.
I don't think they should reboot, but if they can make changes that will win some of those unsatisfied fans back, without loosing anyone, well that would be best for the franchise. |

I've said it before I'll say it again. President Zartan disbands the GI Joe team. Destro, Baroness and Cobra Commander "escape" and take Duke prisoner. Hawk takes the team "underground" to the "original" Pitt that he and General Colton stored the experimental vehicles and weaponry from the 80's. Background team members step up to take the lead "Flint, Lady J and others" Duke escapes to give the secret location of the Cobra base just in time for the final battle.
No reboot but gives you everything you want with a GI Joe film and takes away the stuff you don't (IE Duke is in it but not much, Old school vehicles and old school plot that people want to see) Problem solved. |
