Hey gang, Shipwreck here.
For many years I have always been agitated by those who would say the phrase " Go Joe" in relation to G.I.Joe's battlecry: "Yo Joe!" Does anyone else ever get that feeling of chalkboards meeting fingernails when you hear someone say or attempt to qoute G.I.Joe with "Go Joe!" in relation to the Joes? There have been a few TV spots in shows where the joes had made an appearence, such as ''Friends'' where two characters are talking about a G.I.Joe figure and labeled it all into '' A Real American Hero'' and then yell out .. ''Go Joe" ... this I just happen to grit my teeth about there. c`mon... how lame? Anyway... anyone else ever have that kind of experiance that just made you shake your head at the stupidity? ... or is it just me?

He`s another reason why I asked... hence various TV spots. But seriously... if Knowing is half the battle... what is the other half? Getting the phrase right!

ME!! Definitely bugs me just as bad as people mangling Vader's line from TESB into : "LUKE, I AM YOUR FATHER." I can't stop the automatic eye roll, and exasperated sigh from leaking out. Then I try to politely explain that it's actually, "No... I am your Father." and make a joke about my ocd and the urge to punch them in the face.
What irks me even more is there ARE a few instances in the first two miniseries where they do say GO Joe once or twice... And it always bugged me. I always assumed it was a mistake. It's YO joe. End of story. And slappage will occur if they push the issue. Last edited by In Like Flint; 02-28-2011 at 01:10 PM.. |

Honestly? I always thought "Yo Joe!" was lame as hell. Not that "Go Joe!" is any better.

Maybe they just want Joe to go away. Or to the store. Maybe it's just motivational instead of a greeting. "Go (get me some food) Joe!" vs. "Yo (what's happenin'?) Joe!
