Well in going into battle in the Gi Joe Universe.
I notice a lack of "Armor" the Joes and Cobra Troopers use. Though the Gi Joes have some heavy armor firepower that they bring with them like the MOBAT. The Cobras have various weapons that support their troops but I can't really call the HISS Tank Heavy Armor. I guess the RAGE Tank would be Cobra's Heavy Armored Unit. The Armadillo being the Joe's Light Armored Tank. And I guess that the HISS Tank could fall into that category. I know they have Artillery Support that seems to have pretty good armor. The MAGGOTS seem to work good. The ASP is light assault and is always at least seen in large numbers when deployed. The Stunn I'm not sure how to classify it it. It looks to have a decent bit of Firepower. The HAVOC I'm not sure what they classify it as. What's your view of the use of Tanks in Gi Joe? And which side has the better tank?

^^This. Great tank, my favorite Joe tank. As for Cobra, the way the HISS was originally portrayed in the comics, it was a heavy tank. I'd say the HISS II is the closest Cobra has to a big tank. I don't think of the Bugg or Hammerhead as tanks, and the Maggot is technically an artillery vehicle.

^^^Agreed 100% That's the Joe's Main Battle (and best) Tank. As for Cobra I think the Hiss II qualifies as their heavy armor and the DTC Hiss as the equivalent of the Bradley.

I think the Mobat is still the quintessential Joe armor.

The HAVOC is considered heavy armor. I think that's what the firt two letters stand for. I think. The Patriot Grizzly is awesome, but if you're talking "old school" Then it would half to be the Mauler. I always loved it more than the MOBAT. I never owned one but my friend did and I always tried to use it when I could.
For Cobra I also think of the HISS II as the heavy armor. My favorite vehicle of all time by the way. Now, doesn't Cobra have an armored B.A.T. tranport tank thing? |

Cobra did have a repaint of the Monster Blaster APC, which was originally part of the Joes' Mega Marine line. As a Cobra vehicle, it was called the APC Transport.

As a rapid response elite force I would not expect there to be a lot of heavy armor. Tanks are big and heavy and thus very diffiult to transport to action locations quickly. The C5 or C17 can only transport 1 tank per plane. And those planes also need a large runway. Smaller, lighter, faster vehicles serve a rapid response force better.
