Can't Hasbro ever use different characters?
And pass up the chance to frustrate the hell out of us old time fans? |

Then of course, every so often you'd have a "mega arc" (probably a season closer) where pretty much all the characters you've seen so far pop up, even if it's just for one line of dialogue or to shoot a gun in the background (like Resolute and its' "briefings on the Flagg" scenes where you see tons of Joes that don't do anything else on-screen for the rest of the series). It's just a given, and Hasbro has stated this several times, that they're going to use what they feel are the most recognizeable as core characters. At least with PoC we're gettin them in environment specific gear which makes it tolerable.
I do agree, though, that if they (whoever is in charge of the different mediums) took the time to focus on other characters, they could become fan favorites as well.

I would be VERY surprised if some of the 80s/90s figures are ever revisited - although Hasbro has surprised everyone both with the figures that have created lately and the laziness they did it with (Footloose, Law and Order, and Repeater - I'm pretty sure Dial-tone is in its own league). All of these figures are easily modified to look like their 25th, and at least they tried, but it makes me wonder if we really want Hasbro to remake any more of the vintage figures! I think we will see more like the Recondo, Snow Job and Dusty going forward - complete re-imagining of classic characters to fit in the current line.

I was really hoping to see some story lines about Ice Cream Soldier and Colonel Courage myself.

And they do sell. To Wal-Mart. Hasbro's buyers are the retailers, not you or me. Retailers will not buy waves, will not stock figures, without core characters to anchor them. This is not Hasbro policy. This is the market as it exists, and it applies to all action figure brands. |

New Characters equal new molds and since hasbro HATES to amke new molds and would rather improperly reuse parts just so they can basterdize a character (cough LAWN N ORDER, FOOT LOOSE, REPEATER, NOT DIALTONE cough) the chances of seing any other characters in their proper forms...i think people have a better chance of being abducted by hot alien space chicks..
