The Classified Siegies have M4s (essentially the carbine version of the M16), and they'd look pretty weird packed with Joes, considering those bayonets just seem like more of a Cobra thing. Why don't Flint and Falcon make sense as shotgun-toting characters? Their first ARAH figures were packed with shotguns. The majority of 3 3/4" figures made for both Flint and Falcon over the decades have had shotguns as their primary weapons.
If we're updating figures, at least include a weapon that matches their uniform and kit as an alternate weapon in addition to the shotgun. Last edited by MammothFan; 10-05-2022 at 10:22 AM.. |

The weapons are character-specific - the first priority is to give the characters the weapons that they're known for. The horse that is military realism left the barn sometime in 1984 and it ain't coming back.
And let's face it, if Joes are to get an alternate weapon... odds are good it's going to be a freaking laser rifle, not an M4 or something similar. Last edited by GeoffDes; 10-05-2022 at 10:36 AM.. |

There are characters that are grounded in reality and characters that are fantastical. Go wild with the fantastical characters but keep the grounded characters grounded. |

As I learned on (of all places H.I.S.S. Tank,) A Real American Hero was never real world military. A.R.A.H. was, (and is,) "military fantasy." There's nothing wrong with patriotism. G.I. JOE was steeped in patriotism. Look no further than the the name of the most popular and beloved G.I. JOE line, the packaging of A Real American Hero, the opening sequence of G.I. JOE: The Movie, and the splash page of the first issue which pays homage to the flag raising on Iomo Jima. You incur problems when your patriotism bleeds over into jingoistic chauvanism.

More generosity with weapons/accessories would solve a lot of these problems. Keep giving everyone iconic weapons, but start sprinkling a variety of M4s, M249s, XM250s, etc. too depending on the figure. Hasbro seems too cheap to want to please everyone, so maybe this is more "weapon pack" territory, but it doesn't seem like adding one or two "standard" recent weapons to every figure would hurt their bottom line. You could re-use the models for something like this easily, since expectations would be that weapon duplication across characters is OK as long as they still come with an "iconic" weapon loadout too.

So every move Hasbro has been making lately seems to widely annoy its core fanbase across intellectual properties. A common justification I see is that they are doing this to appease stockholders and make investors happy. Well i don't know how legit these finance articles are but apparently the investors are ALSO upset by Hasbro's status quo and overly-aggressive growth targets. here's a link to the article https://finance.yahoo.com/news/hasbr...103742329.html
