I need more shelves and I noticed today that my go-to at Ikea has been discontinued: the Vittsjo. I also see that they seem to have gotten rid of the Detolfs, which were a backup choice.
What are people using these days? Buying from non-Ikea stores is cost prohibitive so I wondered if Ikea had a replacement. Ideally, I like open back and glass because it helps with the lighting.

I use the classic Billy bookshelves.
What's nice about them is you can customize them with glass shelves, doors, etc etc. You won't be able to display really large vehicles on them, but I have the different planes on stands, and other random medium / small vehicles on mine. |

Checked for shipping to VA, but it didn't look like they offered it. Last edited by TheRealDubya; 08-01-2022 at 11:21 PM.. |

I like the design of the Malsjo. They are great for displaying my stuff.

From what I've read online, they were discontinued around that time. The Vittsjo was officially discontinued in December 2021. I hadn't seen them in stock at my local IKEAs for a while before that (and they stopped being available for shipping around the time the pandemic started).
My best bet might be watching Facebook sales and local marketplaces. The shelves on Amazon are too narrow or too expensive, and the remaining Ikea ones don't really compare.

I've been using the REGISS?R cabinets. They are probably a little pricey for what they are but the shelves fit three 'tiers' deep of figures and they keep the dust out. They also feel less cheap than some of the other ikea cabinets.

The 8 inch deep Besta frames are pretty good for figures. They’re modular & pretty easy to hang on a wall. They have glass shelves & if you’re handy it’s not too difficult to make your own full view glass door.
