I found hisstank after I had found a tub of GI Joe pieces at a Goodwill and was trying to figure out what they all went to. Somehow I ended up in one of the forum threads and was hooked. My greatest childhood Joe memory was getting the 1992 headquarters for Christmas. I played with that for days and pulled out every Joe, Cobra, and vehicle I had to go with it. Everything that was even remotely the same scale. Even some Star Wars mini rigs (didn't know what they were at the time, but Joes fit), and random Aliens figures (Hicks and Drake). It all came out. My parents were remarkably patient. |

Not trying to make a banter post, but just curious if your contest is open to Europeans?

Found Hisstank shortly after visiting my local Kmart and finding a 25th Anniversary Storm Shadow v2 and Flint on the pegs (I bought Storm Shadow). Had no idea that GI Joe had come back. Needed info, found the tank, and 15 years later still here. My most vivid childhood memory is playing with Darklon and his Evader at my grandparents farm in the dirt/sand/grass. |

I lurked in the background here for a few years, then noticed someone had a Quick Kick foot I needed so I joined up and made a few great deals with Tankers who aren't even around anymore. Made a bunch of friends here and it has been great! I have two great childhood memories of Joes. One is the year I got the APC, FANG, Flash, Rock N Roll and Cobra Trooper for birthday and Christmas presents (my bday is in December so it kind of ran together). Oh the backyard adventure I would have. I had a little plastic jet I would use as a Skystriker (extremely under scaled). I would use concrete blocks to make Joe and Cobra Headquarters and stacks of staples to make Cobra Commander's throne. I didn't have Cobra Commander yet so a Star Wars Bespin Security Guard was my Cobra Commander and Lando Calrissian was Stalker. My other great memory lasted the length of the line. My grandmother would often go to various hardware stores and out of the way mom and pop shops and would always find me a figure. She is the main reason I stuck with collecting Joes. She also found me a Major Bludd when we couldn't find one anywhere, and that memory sticks out. He remains my favorite figure to this day. She looked for years to find me a Wolverine because she knew how bad I wanted Cover Girl. She never found one but about 5 years ago I finally got one. I know she was smiling down on me saying "look what we just found".

I discovered HissTank with a simple Google search. I had just gotten back into collecting G.I. Joe, thanks to Classified, and I was looking for a place with like-minded people to discuss the hobby and hear about news and rumours for the line. I haven't been disappointed. My greatest childhood memory was Christmas 1986. My Dad got a huge bonus from work and went all out on presents for the family. When I walked into the living room that morning, I was greeted to the sight of the Terror Drome, Tomahawk, H.A.V.O.C., Night Raven, Stun, Triple T, Thunder Machine, Devilfish, and Serpentor w/ Air Chariot, as well as about 12 new figures, including all time favourites like the Cobra Viper, the B.A T.S., Sci-Fi, and Low Light. This is my favourite G.I. Joe childhood memory (nearly eclipsed the following year, when I got the Defiant for Christmas) and my Dad and I had a lot of fun putting the various vehicles together. I joined up back when the 25th figs rolled out. To see the figs i loved as kid brought back in a modern style just sucked me in and i collected a whole lot of em.
One of my favorite moments of my memories as a kid is when i learned how to take them apart. My father was leaving on a business trip and before he left my favorite joe, lt. falcon, broke at the oring. Luckily for his job he actually USED oring ( he was a computer repair tech who traveled to various companies fixing their machines from reel to reel tape set ups to micro phish machines ) so he took a screw driver and showed me how to thread the oring back through the waist and loop it over the back screw post. After he left i too my box of spare joe parts and using them made my very first joe custom. It consisted of a lt. Falcon head, dial tone chest, outback arms, straight arm rock n roll waist, and outback legs. His backpack was v3 se backpack and that sword with a weapons pack leatherneck m203. He led a special merc team and their vehicle was a sci-fi lookin corps vehicle. Good tikes and lotta fond memories.

Im in,
I was new to the internet and was looking for a place to talk Joes. Started off on Yojoe.com and then moved over to Hisstank as this forum was more active and I loved the news on new products on the front page. Greatest childhood memory of Joes is basically seeing new figures and vehicles for the first time as there was no internet to see what is upcoming each year and then going through all the racks to see what the new figures and vehicles are.

I joined up early in the Modern Era, though I had been reading the board for a while prior. I was impressed with how civil the board was (especially after being a part of a couple of Star Wars board during the prequel era). For some reason, the memory that's most indelible to me about Joe as a kid, is this ridiculous one: My brother had a lot fewer Joes than I did, but we regularly had ours fight each other. It took me about thirty to forty-five minutes to arm all of my guys and arrange drivers for all of my vehicles, while my brother would sit around waiting. Invariably, inexplicably, I always had to take a dump when I finished preparing my forces. One day, my brother got mad and was huffing around, so my dad asked what the problem was. My brother tells my dad, "every time we go to play GI Joe, I have to wait forever for him to set up, and then he has to take a dump." My dad, who had zero interest in toys, calmly said, "Maybe he's nervous about the battle."
