Each creative team did what every other previous creative team did with Zandar & Zarana--nothing. I'm trying to see that changed. All it takes is a willing, open-minded creative team. Is the current creative team at Hasbro willing and open-minded towards Zandar & Zarana?

There is a limited tooling budget per wave, so they have to be very judicious in what new parts get tooled up to execute a given figure. Any new parts have to be balanced against a lot of re-use on the other figures in the wave to make the budget work. What does it tell you that the LEAD DESIGNER for Classified hasn't made his professed favorite, Road Pig yet? Because Road Pig would require a lot of newly-tooled parts in order to do him correctly. The good news is the success of Classified means Hasbro is willing to up the budgets as evidenced by all the new stuff we've seen pipelined. And the announcement of Ripper is ultimately good news for you, Twins, because new Dreadnok parts mean we're likely to get more Dreadnoks sooner rather than later. So take some comfort in the fact that the likeliest reason Zarana and Zandar didn't get released together isn't a conspiracy to erase anything about their history or lore, but rather, simple budget constraints. There's a lot of new tooling between Zarana, Dusty and the Siegie, and they probably just didn't have enough money left to make all the new parts they would have needed to make Zandar properly. In short...patience, grasshopper. Isn't it better to wait for a damn near perfect version of your favorite character as opposed to getting a half-ass, close enough version using the wrong parts now? |

That's very likely to be true too, just like the first o-rings, the Classified line has used the same hands & legs for multiple figures. I'm guessing that's how they kept the cost of the new Gung-Ho down was by doing straight repaints of the other three to put their money into his new parts.

Zandar seems like he wouldn't need amy real new tooling other than his gear and head. His body could easily use Mindbender's buck and just added kneepads on Spirit's lower legs with whoever they want for the upper legs.
Road Pig definitely needs all new parts since he should be the biggest Classified figure (along with The Fridge). But Zandar seems like he could be a cheaper figure for Hasbro to Classify.

It's four more sentences than Zandar has received, and no, he hasn't been mentioned on gijoe.com. I hope one day he is, and that its mentioned he's Zarana's twin. I don't know why they left him out and continue to do so. They need to revamp the gijoe.com site, and add more characters to it--including Zandar.

11,026 views. Can we get Classified Zandar to match Zarana now?

Nothing, not the comics, not Hama, not even the folks working on the line, have more say in who we get and when we get them than tooling does.

Almost all the tooling is there to make a very accurate Zandar. I think the only things needed is a new head and web gear. Could actually possibly use the new tiger force Recondo web gear and call it a day hahahaha

Past creative teams have severed any semblance Zandar had to his original look, taken away the matching shirt/scarf and any punk elements from Zandar whatsoever, as well as discouraging the notion they are twins. I really really hope Hasbro doesn't do this. They've already released Zarana without Zandar, didn't mention him in her bio, and never included Zandar on gijoe.com.
But, as has been pointed out here multiple times, Zarana's original filecard fails to even mention Zandar by name. Also, the vast majority of the over 150 ARAH characters aren't on gijoe.com either. Zandar not being there (yet) isn't proof of any wider agenda. |
