I agree here, AF nor Gi Joe need a direct US military tie in. Which I think shows exactly why Action Force is going to do well. Bobby seems like a pretty intelligent dude and was smart enough to realize the potential of the name alone that Hasbro failed to recognize. Add the fact that they came up with a cool story and characters it's a no-brainer for someone looking at the success of other comic and toy related properties that this could work on a big budget scale movie. I'm not even talkin major characters like Iron Man Spider-Man Captain America Etc. Look at the success Marvel has done with names like Scarlet Witch, The vision and Captain Marvel are all now household names and yet these are all characters that even people within the comic industry never saw as million-dollar properties.

Thank you, everybody, for the kind words and encouragement. I've been working 3-4 hours every day on this project, so Action Force is very much on my mind right now (I should be writing right now instead of browsing toy forums).
The novel will definitely tie into the comics and build on many of the themes, events, and characterizations that I have begun to set up there. As far as relating to the film, that is far less likely. Some elements that we discussed early on may be incorporated into the script, but I am out of the loop on that side of things. |

If nothing else, I think Valaverse can help bolster interest in G.I.Joe and vice versa. I preordered his Sgt. Slaughter and Kerak without hesitation and bought that black weapons set earlier this year. There is potentially a lot of synergy between the two brands. I see them propping one another up more than competing with one another...at least for the moment. Now, if Valaverse puts out some successful media and blows up the product line while Joe stagnates, the balance could shift. I’m interested to see how it all pans out. I think Vala’s inclusion of Sgt. Slaughter early on in the toy line was a genius move. If not for that, they wouldn’t even be on my radar, personally.

I think it’s a fine design and all of his products look good...but I’ve never been a huge fan of military toys personally. It’s really the ARAH toon nostalgia pulling me into Classified...and by extension, Vala’s Slaughter. I was always more of a robot toy fan back in the day. I realize, though, that I’m probably well into the minority on this site with respect to how I approach these characters and franchises. “Generic” military figures just aren’t usually what I get into. Now, if Vala can put some entertaining storylines and characterizations behind all of his stuff, it might be enough to really suck me in.
