Some interesting responses.
The mention of non payment of tax - many have happily bought Black Major / Red Laser etc customs via Instagram etc...I doubt BM or RL paid tax on their sales did they? If it was via gift payment then they won all round. Neither did the buyer - unless they were listed on eBay - if anyone can correct me on that and clarify such a notion to the contrary I welcome that knowledge. Marauder Inc simply can't be bothered. He just refuses to put the hours in to either re-open his eBay shop and list items individually, OR allow foreign customers to email him their orders and have said orders listed on eBay i.e. have the total order with a header like: 'special purchase for SF1378' as a buy now.... Also, going back to my opening point, people like BM/RL etc took private payments via PayPal, perhaps even gift payments, Marauder could easily do similar. He chooses to lose UK and eventually EU business. When the EU fully invokes the same UK VAT style rules, he may well return to eBay or reopen business to the UK / EU...if he doesn't, well, that's his loss. The only way for UK buyers to obtain Marauder Inc items is to add a trusted US contacts address to your Marauder Inc account and have items ship to them - they give you the tracking number, items take 3 days to ship; your contact will then post your order onto you in the UK and you repay the postage costs. The best thing is that a trusted contact will have no qualms under valuing the packet - ergo, no Import Duty charge from UK Border Force / H.M. Revenue and Customs prior to having the packet finally delivered to you courtesy of Royal Mail. And before anyone says it, the prices paid to Marauder Inc include US tax, so you've already paid the tax on your items. It's a silly situation that Marauder Inc has decided to go with...all they are doing is losing business. The other thing that annoys me is still the 3 week to ship thing...especially when the site proudly proclaims 'BACK IN STOCK!' on items like MTF figure bodies etc...he's not on top of his orders really....He really needs to employ more help, frankly, they have begun to remind me of a particular resin caster I've had a bad experience with....if Marauder Inc doesn't change his business model or take on someone to help him, he will eventually crash and burn. And the fans don't want that.

If it isn't worth the headache, then it isn't worth it. Does anyone know what percentage of sales came from the UK?

As a business don't you think they looked at the pros and cons of it? Maybe the amount it cost to do business in the UK isn't worth how much business they actually get?

Received my Marauder delivery today that I got delivered via Stackry. No real hassle and delivery was only a couple of days longer than I'm used to with direct from Marauder. I was upfront on Stackry about declaring the value of the order and fully expected to have to pay extra charges to HMRC, but wasn't charged at this end.
I planned this as a one off to get the stuff that was on my cancelled order and for accessories for my Eagle Force kickstarter rewards. It was smoother than I expected, but I understand that Stackry have increased shipping costs to UK from 1st April and I'm not sure whether the UK govt will tighten up on enforcement in the coming months. |

This whole Ebay idea, in any iteration you spin it, still creates a new workload for someone to manage, as it requires active involvment by a person for every order- unlike an online management system. That's more resources and more money- and how much additional cost are you willing to bare? And if you think MJ is such an asshole, why are you trying to buy his product anyway? I hate to seem like a sycophant here, but it seems like a lot of people just have on the "I can't get what I want" blinders and aren't even considering actual logistics to running a business that is already a low margin proposition. I get that it sucks to not be able to get this stuff anymore- but I'm confident if it made fiscal sense, MJ would be doing it. I seriously doubt it's just a matter of "he can't be bothered". No vendor wants to cut off a revenue source, but, hell- 20% might be all the profit he even makes on a given order.

I asked if this was to be extended to the rest of Europe and this is the answer I got:
"-The UK now REQUIRES all international sellers to register their companies with the UK government, get a VAT tax identification number, the VAT tax id number is required on all shipments, a 20% vat tax must be collected up front from all UK buyers, sellers are required to provide monthly reports to the UK government about buyers (names, address & value of items purchased) and to provide monthly VAT tax payments. No thank you! If they repeal the regulations, will resume shipping to the UK. If the EU implements the same rules, we will stop shipping to Europe...so far all is good!" |

I agree. I guess all the brexit thing have messed all burocracy and process and many companies prefer to stay in the "safe" (not complex) part. I dont think it will extend to Europe by now. (good for me).😊
