So to me, they're two separate characters, sure each fills the huge-black-guy-carrying-a-giant-weapon archetype, but distictly different characters. RB has more history and character development, and I've always held him to be a quintessential team member. An I was a bit bummed out when I saw that the Movie would had HD instead of RB. I was pleased however when the Comics depicted what was clearly Roadblock. Same outfit, weapon, and mustache. But in the new comics they CALL him Heavy Duty?! If I remember right Resolute refered to Roadblock as Roadblock.
Can anybody help me sort out WTF?

Are you sure they call RB heavy duty in the comic? I'm pretty sure I saw him as RB.

However iconic 'Roadblock' is to us, 'Heavy Duty' just sounds more like a heavy weapons sort of person to those not in the know (I guess)

I have to agree with that.
Heavy Duty sounds like a guy that carries the big guns. Roadblock's just the guy in traffic everyone's pissed at after the movie puts them in a bad mood. |

It can't just be a simple as the names resonance. There has to be a branding mistake or a conscious preference of whoever is writing the comic. I just wish I could get a solid answer from somebody whos part of creating the new cannon. Where did the writing and the art dept go haywire?

I don't mind Heavy Duty as Heavy Duty, but that's one of the reasons I wont read the new comics, don't design Roadblock and call him Heavy Duty. |
