Sure we all loved Joe, but what were some little things that irked you as a kid, or you felt needed improvement?
Didn't like Cover Girl's exposed grape sticking out of the Wolverine. I thought it needed some type of hatch cover. Didn't like that the Skyhawk and ASP canopies didn't have clear plastic shielding. Didn't like the cannon port on the Skystriker. I just looked like they didn't bother. Especially after seeing Top Gun, I wanted to see a gatling barrel in there or something. Didn't like that Ripper's rifle was just Snow Job's, with a magazine, scope and bayonet. Thought we wouldn't notice.... but we did. Didn't like the flimsy barrel on Snake Eyes' Uzi, but the 2nd version in 85 improved on it. Didn't like when a knife, grenade or handgun was just lazily painted the same color as the body, but usually they did it right. I guess I was a stickler for detail in 4th grade. Didn't like that the Cobra trooper's check pistol looked like it would fire a foam ball or something. Also didn't like that the trooper had a sniper rifle and the officer an AK. Should have been an AK for the trooper, something like a Scorpion for the officer, and save the Dragunov for a specialized trooper. Didn't like when a box art or comic book showed all the barrels firing on a gatling gun at once. That still bugs me lol. Didn't like that Ripcord and Blowtorch got the one-piece, all-color masks, instead of visors with visible eyes. Didn't like Bazooka's weapon. Small and flimsy, unworthy of a character named "Bazooka". Zap had an awesome one. Even Footloose came with a LAW rocket. Should have been something like a recoilless rifle. Didn't like Spearhead's rifle. WTF? Yes, I was a picky collector lol.... |

(keep in mind I grew up in the RoC/PoC era)
I didn't like the interior of the SHARC and how it couldn't seat a regular character I didn't like the missing knives and sidearms in the 25th dvd packs I didn't like the wonky elbows on the 25th figures I didn't like the lack of spring launchers in the Retaliation line I didn't like the prices of Club Figures I didn't like the absence of 90s designs in 25th and the modern era (come on Hasbro, Retaliation was the perfect time to do a 90s Ninja Firefly!) I didn't like when the club would mix modern and 25th parts These don't really bother me anymore now, but as a kid they were frustrating |

I couldn’t stand bad scaling and when the figures didn’t match their appearance in the cartoon. I hated the Nemesis Enforcer figure for his diminutive stature ( I used the X-men archangel in his place). Loved the Chuckles figure, but thought he was too lean and his color palette didn’t match the movie. There’s more examples, but those are the ones I’ve held onto.

Damn, I don't feel so picky now. I just hated weapons that had handles too thick for a figure's grasp. That was always a dangerous little game of Russian roulette.

I hated the fact that every Stalker figure I had ended up with broken thumbs. and..the Skyhawk and Polar Battle Bear skis broke.
But for non breakage items, I didnt like that Cover Girl and Scarlett looked nothing like the cartoon. I hated Lady Jaye's cap (again not in the cartoon). I didn't like that they used names that weren't Joes on cockpit markings. I guess my dislikes were more like Ax said and just the differences between cartoon and figure. Same with Masters of the Universe.

I disliked all the female figures - never cared for Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Cover Girl, Baroness or Zarana.

The MOBAT. Not a huge fan of the Vamp, or *gasp* the original HISS either. Most of the pre- 84 stuff, actually. I was introduced in 85 or 6, so the older figures are just too rudimentary, though the Sky Striker is a notable exception.

I didn't like other kids, buncha jerks.
Oh, GI JOE. Thumbs breaking. I really didn't like that. That red roll bar thing on the FANG that either broke or wouldn't stay on. I didn;t like Major Bludd barely poseable right arm I didn't like how awkward looking figures looked manning the ASP. I didn't like the SHARC or Deep Six V1 I didn't like easily lost small parts. I didn't like how few Cobra army builders were offered by Hasbro Direct in the 80's. I didn't appreciate the sheer tonnage of product offered in 1988-1989. Impossible to collect it all, the repaints piled it on, too. But they never recolored the Tomahawk? Baffling. I didn't like that the line lasted 12 years but there was only one transport copter. I didn't like the Marauders' brittle plastic. The paper stickers froom 1991 onward sucked. |

I didn't like the top gun on the MOBAT. It was just kind of there, didn't look like a machine gun or even a laser gun, didn't swivel or anything like that.
