As many of you know, Lampreys are one of my favorite army builders from the classic era of Cobra. I recently received my Cobra Island Lampreys today. Its a cool figure, hands down. But I can't help wonder. How exactly are these guys part of the navy?
The helmet and the vest look like could easily belong in the sea. But how exactly do they move around? Would they wear flippers when they have to go on a mission? Even so, that suit hardly seems to be proper for swimming. The boots on the Lamprey look as if he should be treading through the snow or the desert, rather than an under the sea. So to those of you who have served in the Navy and Airforce. What is with the Lamprey? How are they naval troops? My step dad and I have been trying to figure out what the logistics of this design are, all night long. |

They're probably more for aesthetics than anything else. Not all Joe figures and vehicles are based in reality. Has to be hard coming up with all those vipers. They're boat drivers... all they need is equipment for that purpose.

I always thought they were deep sea submarine drivers but I guess they are just boat drivers too.

Shouldn't they just look like Captain Ron then if they are just the guys who drive the boat?
I mean it says they do demolitions. |

Th original Lampreys where more like divers. These new ones are for deep diving...much like those brown suits, with a big helmet.

They do the shit work that's beneath the Eels, which is basicly what I wrote before deleting the post. It was too drawn out and dramatic.

A lamprey (sometimes also called lamprey eel) is a parasitic marine animal with a toothed, funnel-like sucking mouth. While lampreys are well known for those species which bore into the flesh of other fish to suck their blood, these species make up the minority. In zoology, lampreys are often not considered to be true fish because of their vastly different morphology and physiology. Next Question.
