WASHINGTON — The United States announced Wednesday that it is sending a 10 member team of GI Joes and other assistance to a Middle Eastern allied country in its fight against Cobra-backed mercenaries and foot soldiers. Lethal weapons were not included, to the dismay of some U.S. lawmakers.
"Further bloodshed is something that we're trying to avoid and de-escalate," said GI Joe Team Leader General Hawk. General Hawk said the new aid includes unmanned drones to help defend allied forces and to enhance their communication there will be radios and other secure communications equipment and radars to warn and protect against mortar and artillery fire; and medical equipment. Also included in the assistance will be multi-purpose attack vehicles and ground/air defense systems. General Hawk is asking for guidance from us, his top notched advisors, in which 10 Joes will be leading the military training and which equipment, vehicles, and defense systems should be used. Like I said, only 10 Joes to choose from and add their training specialties and you can choose a small number of the vehicles/equipment to be used. Remember, this is an effort to provide training to our Middle Eastern ally, not a full scale war. So no need for heavy artillery. My choices: Joes: 1. Flint - (Team Leader) 2. Beachhead - (Defense Systems/Small Arms Training) 3. Dusty - (Desert Ops Training/Refrigeration and Air-conditioning maintenance) 4. Skidmark - (Fast Attack Vehicle Training) 5. Lifeline - (Classical/Operant Conditioning) 6. Doc - (Medical Field Training) 7. Dial Tone - (Technology/Communications Training) 8. The Fridge - (Physical Readiness Training) 9. Outback - (Survival Skills Training) 10. Lift Ticket - (Aerial/Flight Training) Equipment: 1. 1 Tomahawk 2. 2 Vamps 3. 1 Desert Fox 6WD Jeep 4. 3 MMS [Mobile Missile System] 5. 3 Air Defenses 6. 5 Alpha Checkpoints (stationed to set up a perimeter for training ground) 7. 2 Outpost Defenders 8. 4 Radar Rats 9. 2 Desert Strikers 10. 3 Sand Razors

I like the premise of this post. 10 men could hardly do much in a real life FID (foreign internal defense) operations. But with just 10 I would make them higher level Joes. So many Joes are trainers as well.
1st. Steel Brigade Commander. He's a Civil Affairs officer and an Intelligence Officer. These would be critical skills to get Shit done. 2. Falcon - Green-Berets do this all day. 3. Flint - can't have too many Green Berets. 4. Gung-Ho - I like to think he's MARSOC now so similar to the Green Berets. 5. Sgt. Slaughter. 6. Beachhead 7. Hollow-Point 8. Dodger - Vehicle and electronic maintenance. 9. Hard-Drive genius computer tech and medic. 10. Salvo heavy weapons-repair

Falcon - like LC said, this is classic USASF tasking
Flint - so, ditto Duke - and ditto Roadblock - HMG training Sarge Slaughter - basic drill and PT Beach Head - Ranger-level infantry skills Stalker - ditto Leatherneck - former USMC drill sarge, so he can help Slaughter Scarlett - Intelligence training and h2h combat Lady Jaye - undercover ops. the last two could also help train women soldiers if this is a liberal enough Mid East nation. |

I would definitely send Falcon, Flint and Duke, for the reasons already stated above. I wouldn't worry too much about individual tech training, that's years of training, instead I would send Mainframe and Super Joe to set up an Officer training program.
As for armaments, controlling airspace takes precedence in this kind of scenario. In open desert you need a large force for any mechanized presence to matter. I'm assuming this nation doesn't have the infrastructure to support large tank units, etc. Mobile infantry and small unit tactics will be more effective. Instead Focus the hardware on air superiority, helicopters, and a strong anti aircraft net. I would send Ace, Lifticket, Wildbill. Round out the team with EOD training, Lightfoot and Tripwire. |

A lot of leeway here.
Can't argue with any choices so far, all the green beanies go, that is their day job after all. Same with Leatherneck and Beachhead, we actually do send USMC DIs to other countries to help set up and conduct basic skills training, or at least we did a while back. From there, I would go with a couple of officers or high level SNCOs to work with them on planning processes and conduct of operations, as well as a little bit of larger unit tactics. Not nearly as exciting as teaching small unit and infantry skills, but necessary. Flint for sure, as the OpsO and green beret, and maybe Steeler for armor and more importantly, integrating armor with other arms, like infantry, arty, and air. One aviator, for the same reason as Steeler, and maybe an engineer. |

This one kind of depends on what kind of training is expected. Is it to run boot camps? To train low level leaders? To train platoon/company level operations? To operate the equipment being sent? Each one requires a different set of skills.
If it's to teach the very basics then a team built around original Joes would work: Grunt, Rock n Roll, Zap, Short Fuze to teach basic weapons and tactics. For leadership training I'd focus more on guys like Flint, Stalker, Beach Head, maybe Gung Ho. The collective training at Pl/Coy levels would call for Falcon, Claymore, Grid-Iron, and probably Stalker and Beach Head. Any of those teams could then be rounded out with a medic, an intelligence specialist, a comms specialist, and maybe someone who can coordinate air support - just in case. |

The assumption is that there is a standing army, albiet one that is underequipped and disorganized. Personnel: 1. Brigadier General Clayton "Hawk" Abernathy [Unit Commander] This is a large operation conducted jointly with a sovereign nation and I think that alone requires a flag officer to be the spear-head on this. From a campaign standpoint, the General has specialization in artillery and radar systems. This type of mission is right in his wheelhouse ranging from the deployment of radar units to tracking the movements of enemy forces. He is a big picture guy and this is a big picture engagement. 2. Major Dashiell "Flint" Fairborne [Executive Officer/Training Commandante] Chose him over Duke because of the personel limits and Flint's better knowledge of how to use and operate helicopters. Like Duke he's also a veteran Airborn Ranger and capable of overseeing ground combat training. 3. Major Brad "Ace" Armbruster [Air Battle Manager] If Joe can't be directly be involved in hostile actions (which is absurd), Ace is still of undoubted use as an intelligence officer and qualified Aggressor trainer. His personal success is built upon an uncanny feel for the sky and his ability to read intentions and situations (this is why he's a menace at the poker table). He will be responsible for overseeing training in air-to-air engagements and conduct of all in-theatre air operations. 4. Doctor Carl Greer [Chief Surgeon] He will oversee medical operations for the theater by taking existing medical personnel and demonstrating modern, advanced techniques and methods of casualty triage. He will oversee the formation of local MASH-style hospitals and coordinate supply of medical needs. He will also conduct advanced emergency surgeries as needed 5. Sgt Edwin "Lifeline" Steen [Corpsman trainer] Will assist with battlefield triage and training on battlefield injuries. He will be the Joe closest to the fight in many cases 6. Sgt Blaine "Mainframe" Parker. [Information Specialist] Will oversee flow of data between bases, nodes, and outposts. Will train nationals on new systems and equipment and will consult on building of networks, datacenters, and workstations necessary for supporting intelligence operations in the theatre. 7. Command Sgt Major Alonzo "Stalker" Wilkinson [Infantry Training] He will oversee training of ground forces in the theatre and train in weapon use and general tactics (along with Flint). 8. Gunnery Sgt Robert "Slaughter" Remus [Physical Training] He will oversee general condition and combat hardiness of troops. Where Stalker will concentrate on tactics and weapon usage, Slaughter will run them through the physical gauntlet and prepare them for battlefield hardship. 9. Captain Shana "Scarlett" O'Hara [Intelligence/Aviation Training] Scarlett will focus on the information gathering and intelligence/counterintel operations of the effort. 10. Victor "Lift Ticket" Sikorski [Helio operations/Flight Instructor] Lift ticket will focus on Air-to-ground training with both helicopters and fixed wing aircraft.

NIce. I like how yours is thought out. Is Flint a Major in the newer comics?
