Viper won poll #2!
This series of polls is to determine the greatest unnamed troopers, soldiers and army builders in the G.I. Joe multiverse. The current intention is to take the greatest list up to 50. Extending it to 100 is possible. Beyond that is not likely. Your past nominations are listed at this link, alphabetically by your username: http://www.hisstank.com/forum/4726708-post78.html YoJoe.com figure listings: YOJOE.COM | G.I.Joe Action Figure Archive - By Year - All Rules: 1: For a character to be eligible, there must exist more than one of the character with the same name and wearing the same uniform. Repainted figures like Cobra Soldier and Cobra Officer or B.A.T. and Jungle B.A.T. are eligible to enter the poll as separate choices, but different cartoon vs. comic book colors, different sexes, different hair colors or other minor variations are not eligible. We are also not distinguishing between resculpted versions of a character that was basically the same design. Characters who were never made as figures are eligible, but there must be a description and pictures online that describe the characters and where they appeared. You can ask in the thread if you're not sure if a character is eligible and I will make the final determination. 2: In each poll thread, in addition to voting, you can publically post one nomination for an eligible character who you have NOT nominated before for this series of polls. You may abstain from nominating if you wish. If you attempt to nominate the same character twice, I reserve the right to stop counting your nominations altogether. I will keep a post updated and linked in each poll thread containing everyone's nominations to date sorted alphabetically by their username. 3. If you are nominating a later redesign of a character who has the same name as an earlier one, you must note the year it was introduced and/or the version number. Otherwise I will assume you're nominating the first version. You can go to the YoJoe.com link above to find the year and/or version number of a figure. 4: The current nomination tallies will be posted in the 1st post of each poll thread and edited there periodically to update the counts. 5: Each new poll will be populated with the 10 characters who are currently at the top of the nomination list in order, not including the one who just won. This means a character in the current poll can drop out of the next poll if he falls behind in nominations. 6: Any ties in nominations will be broken by the character who got to that number of nominations earliest. Any ties in poll winners will be broken by who entered the poll first or, if they entered at the same time, by who had the most nominations when he entered. 7: If you did not post 20 nominations in the initial announcement thread posted before poll #1, you can catch up on some of them. To figure out how many catch-up nominations you can post, take the amount (up to 20) that you did not nominate in that initial thread and subtract the number of the current poll. For example, if you did not nominate any at all, take 20 minus 3 (the poll's number), meaning you can post 17 catch-up nominations. If you only nominated 15 in the first poll, take 5 minus 3 (the poll's number), meaning you can post 2 catch-up nominations. This is in addition to the one nomination you and everyone else can always post in each poll thread. Obviously, catch-up nominations will end with the 20th poll. Winners: 1: Cobra Soldier (35.29% with 24 of 68 votes) 2: Viper (33.96% with 18 of 53 votes) Nomination counts: B.A.T. 40 Eel 39 Crimson Guard 38 Snow Serpent 33 Alley Viper 33 Iron Grenadier 27 Cobra Officer 25 Night-Viper 24 Tele-Viper 22 Steel Brigade 22 Strato-Viper 21 -------------------> Whatever characters end above this line will be the next poll's choices Red Ninja (comic book/25th) 21 Night-Creeper 21 Techno-Viper 20 S.A.W.-Viper 17 Range-Viper 15 G.I. Joe Trooper (green shirt) 15 Lamprey 14 H.I.S.S. Driver 14 H.E.A.T. hmm is a synthoid a trooper? a clone? a bunch of magical clay? do they feel pain? are they even alive?
now a BAT is a robot, easy enough to figure that out. Robot, trooper programmed, does not speak. A synthoid though, thats a tough one. They are more like a science project. I'm not saying one way or the other but it does bring up an interesting question. Because each synthoid is their own "person" they start out as a base form of clay and are turned into a specific character. So is each synthoid an individual? I would say yes, but so are vipers for that matter, they are individuals too. Synthoids start out all the same though. gray shapeless clay.

Add Tele-Viper
I think the Viper should have been lower on the list, because there is some redundancy to him. His inclusion to the ranks did not bring as much to Cobra as the Crimson Guard or the BAT (who I feel should be #2 and #3, respectively).

If you punch Synthoids they look the same. I understand the poll's purpose for you and why you would exclude them. They are way cooler than, say, Rock Vipers. That said, add Rock Viper.

Yes to this. Vipers rank very low for me because they don't bring anything new, but I can see how many would consider them the iconic base trooper for themselves.
