Don't get me wrong guys, I was in no way defending whoever had this "bright" idea. Roadblock was tough as nails, the dude fought killer weeds through an entire night with only a knife! I don't know much about Heavy Duty, but I definitly don't like the idea of goofy ass Marlon Wayans playing him. But then again, it's got to be better that Marlon Wayans playing Roadblock.

Also in a interview, it was said Hama prefered Heavy Duty to Roadblock. From the description of HD in the new Joe book, it seems just the code names have been switched. Until it's shown otherwise, to me the new "Heavy Duty" is still Marvin S Hinton. And the HD we all know, will probably be given a new code name, but the core of the character will remain the same, like his real name, etc..
I respect him and I really appreciate all he's done for G.I. Joe. But on this issue, if what you're reporting about him is accurate, then he needs to SHUT UP. Marvin S. Hinton's code name is "Roadblock". It's that simple. "Heavy Duty" is an adjective more often than not. "Roadblock" is a noun. People need nouns for names. Adjectives made ridiculous and silly names. Anybody who can carry a .50 cal is anything but silly or ridiculous.

they basically want us to accept sigma as the new starting standard for joes and since heavy "doody" was the prominant black guy in the show and not Roadblock and since hasblow seems to think that kids are into gi joe like they were, they do what we're seeing by eliminating the name. now i know at one point hasbro lost the rights to the name but now that they have it back ROADBLOCK, not duty, should be back where he belongs.
And as far as the "writers"(and i use that term very loosely) for the movie go...they also prefer to cast marlon wayans as "ripcord" so the fact they prefer the name means exactly jack shit to me. Those morons have lost all crediability and now we are seeing, just as i feared, the movie translations of characters seep into anything that comes along, ie resolute and new comic.

If anybody played Roadblock, it could only be one of two men: Classic 1980's Mr. T (when he was in shape for Rocky 3) or that big dude from "The Green Mile" and "Daredevil" I"m sorry I don't know his name.

Marlon playing ripcord makes as much sense as roseanne singing the national anthem. OR a korean guy trying to pass himself off as a japanese character. Is it me or does anyone else find that particularly insulting.

Why don't we all just get a couple of old episodes of the A-TEAM, redub some of the lines and do a little editing, and release it on DVD as the alternative G.I. Joe movie.
Hannibal could be Hawk Murdock would be Chuckles Face is Scarlett Mr. T is, obviously, Roadblock I think we could do that project and it would be better than this upcoming movie. What do you say, fellas?

actually, on second thought, I think Stalker would EAT a guy like Wayans. Maybe Wesley Snipes as Stalker, but still, you see where I'm going.
