I'm thinking each team is deployed across the world and set up to handle anything. So some missions wouldn't need the armor, some would.

I'd envisioned the sneak/black ops guys as independant of the assault teams, but I like including some of 'em with the assault teams.
So say Stalker and Beachhead are part of Team 1, they can then be seperated out for recon/covert ops as part of Team 1's mission profile. This would also allow the Joes to be deployed worldwide and be able to rapidly respond to any emergency with force or covert. Team 1 could be in Sierra Gordo, for example. If they need help, the Naval Element is (fairly rapidly) able to be deployed off the Flagg to reinforce them. Or can (with more planning and time) move Team 2 out of Europe or Team 3 out of Asia. You wouldn't bring the Recon guys with you. They were probably already there and just need to be picked up on the way. In reality this would only be necessary if you had to bring in the Armor. Topside's team in the picture could cause a lot of damage and stay covert. If you brought Salvo, Bazooka, Zap, Mirage, Heavy Duty, Rampart, and Gung-Ho you'll take out a lot of tanks without having to bring the Armor. Last edited by Loose Cannon; 02-11-2009 at 05:09 PM.. |

Naval Assault team would be comprised of 2 parts: Sea and Amphibious. The Sea element would support the amphibious assault (crew on the WHALE). Amphibious would be SEaLs
The Sea element would be for ship to ship fighting, boardings/seizures, and support. Shipwreck, Topside, Deep-Six would be part of the sea element. Torpedo, Wet-Suit, Tracker, Wetdown would be the amphibious part (double tasked for covert ops). Leatherneck, Gung-Ho and the other Marines would be part of the amphibious element. I'd put Rampart with the Amphibioius Assault as their heavy weapons/anti-armor guy. I think that would be the best use for him as he is currently geared out. He would also make a good gunner for any naval stations on the Joe vessels. |

i never got any of the big tanks.
when i was a kid i never really had an interest in them and now that i'm older and working on my display room space is a problem. my goal is to build a Cobra Island dio with the Joes launching an attack on that from a custom built LHD. they will encounter a MARS freighter on its way to Cobra Island with a shipment of HISSs & FANGs. And thats when the stuff will hit the fan. this is constantly changing in my mind as to what figures & vehicles i need/want and now i've gotten into the idea of a cold weather mission and want to do a smaller scale dio with my snowcat, battle bear and some arctic HISSs when they finally come out. That sounds awesome. Can't wait to see it. I'm running into the "size of space" issue. I have a bunch of dios I want to do, but just no room. So I'm going to go with smaller displays for now. Going to try to plan ahead and make the joe-fort ones able to be put together with minimal effort so someday can make the big fort. First one is a firing range/armory.

Yeah. So there's 2-3 smaller recon teams that can be flown around the world and dropped in for whatever mission is needed. 4-6 man teams. Stationed on the Flagg for rapid deployment by Tomahawk (or whatever). The Joes need a fast moving battleship/transport. The Flagg moves too slow, they need something smaller and faster. I miss the old Joe Freighter. That thing was great. So the recon teams are independant of the assault teams (though, the assault teams have a small recon element, say Footloose acting as a scout, that kind of thing).

First one is a firing range/armory. about the only thing that i am sure of right now is that the island hq is gonna be more like a castle than a terror drome. scenic express makes these really great stone wall sections out of foam and some of them have archways that in "O" scale are just right for a HISS to roll through. there is also an arch that is wider but not as tall that i am thinking would make an awesome hangar door for firebats. i would like to have a small airfield (maybe 3 rattlers) but dont know if that is feasible. air support will probably be the firebats, fangs and claws. i like your firing range idea and would also like to have an obstacle course. the perimeter of the island will be a system of battle barges patrolled by hydrosleds. if i can fit a swamp area onto the island that will be where the drednoks have a base (shack) along with copperhead & some water mocassins. |
