If the Drednoks were to ever be given a modern, onscreen treatment...i feel that Sons of Anarchy is a good example of how to make them come alive, when mixed with the pre-existing Drednok mythology, the style would work.
The template that SOA gives for Drednoks to make the leap to screen shows that the Drednoks can be done in a way that's not cheesy. Thoughts? (and there should be an E in "template" in the thread title) Last edited by MLos1; 08-07-2011 at 07:00 AM.. Reason: ran outta grape soda |

I havent gotten around to watching SOA. It looks like a cool show.
I can assume that the MC portrayed in SOA is an accurate representation of a modern MC and all that this implies. The Noks were at one point made into a nationwide organization with multiple chapters, so yeah, I could see that. Of course, if the Noks are going to dabble in terrorism and plots of global domination, they have to be more than just a drug cartel and hit men. I guess that's where Zartan would come in, bringing to the table his background of extensive training in tradecraft, counter intel and assassination. It works for me. |

I could see SOA and the Dreadnoks working well together. The Dreads work with Cobra and the Sons are buying guns from the IRA so there are some common threads working with terrorists.

However, they would work well as a template for how to create a bike club on film. The creators of the show have put a ton of details into the show. The characters are all distinct even if they only appear in one episode. This could be a great way to film the background characters and would merge well with the main 'noks being more outlandish leaders of this group. Monkeywrench, Buzzer, Torch, and Machete would fit well into this world. They could lose some of the comic relief aspect and be leaders of the club that turn into mercenaries believably. Had Renegades continued I would have loved to see an animated miniseries/ movie event Dreadnok's Rising explaining how Zartan and the bikers became go-to fighters for Cobra. They provided a neat relationship between Z and Cobra, but how about the rest of the bikers? How does Z lead the bikers if he's off being a chameleon spy? It could have made a neat Declassified look into how the group operates. SoA would work better than Kamen Rider or Biker Mice From Mars as templates as to how to tell that story. G.I. Joe needs its own version of Lorenzo Lamas' Renegade character, a good guy on a motorcycle who can go under cover. Renegades would have been a nice place to pull in a Stephen Canell type character pop up. Instead of a ninja on a motorcycle or Duke on the bike, a separate undercover character would have worked well in the animated Renegades world, especially if they'd do a dedicated miniseries/movie event, in the animated Renegades world. Rewatching Lamas's complete series reminds me how cool that could have been. I would also be a sucker for a Street Hawk style character with a back up unit and fancy technology bike but that just seems goofy to most non-Knight Rider fans. So I'll skip sharing those thoughts. |

I would agree if they promised that no one would every have a baby. I hoped every episode that someone would kill it or make it go away far enough we would never have to hear about it again.
