In the ATR, my verse, heroes and villains exist although they're not as "super" as in their respective universes. Guys like Punisher exist pretty much as is. Deadpool too to an extent. Doc Ock, Red Skull, Black Mask, etc all exist. The more far out characters get reinvented to fit into my world. E.G. Colossus can't transform his skin into metal rather he wears heavy armor. Things like that. Two characters that will become more important in my verse are Batman and Iron Man. They'll play growing roles as the world tries to survive the growing menace.

Absolutely not. If there was super powered heros in the Joeverse then there wouldnt be a need for the Joes. The Avengers, hell just Thor could find the Cobra base and shove a lightning bolt up their snakeholes and thats that. "Nuff Said True Believers"

Iron Man Mech Suits bring the pain. Union Jack keeps the MI6 in business. Captain America teaches the young blood how to use rifles.

Not super heroes in an X-Men/Avengers sense but super heroes as in better than any regular human being ever.
Would the Joes ever be able to thwart a Skrull invasion? Of course not...Could the Punisher, Daredevil or even Batman be written into their universe? Sure. I understand the Joes are a military unit. I also understand they've given heavy machine gunners the job of fighting in outer space. They've fought a vampire and whatver else Cobra-La is, have an enemy that can disguise himself as anyone else, ninjas that can slow their heartbeat down to fake their death and tons of other things written into their lore. If Joes were a bunch of plastic green army men that didn't walk a fine line between military and "larger than life"...they'd be boring. Not mutants or chemically enhanced but super heroes in their own right. |

for instance, right now I use the Crysis II aliens as enhanced Bio vipers, probably to hardcore for the average Joe to handle, but Captain America and the super troopers can, also the origins of several villians sounds like stuff Cobra would have, Like stealing the super soldier formula or re-creating it. partnering up with Hydra or Power Brokers or even the kingpin. Villians like Norman Osborne, the Taskmaster, or Bullseye working as operatives of Cobra. The abomination or the Serpent Society would fit in nicely at the coil.

OK I do like a realistic based Joeverse... however that doesn't preclude some superhero-esque types from appearing. Iron Man for instance is a somewhat feasible character.
There's some room for cross polination IMO but I do prefer to look into why that could be there and include a rational thought out reason for it based in scientific norms. Could a dude build a fairly bulletproof armor suit with partical based physics repeling bullets as opposed to the metal itself? In theory with enough energy it could happen. The physics and chemistry are theoretical but if one can subscribe to the power source one can start to open doors. |

I brought this up over on the Reloaded boards. One of the other memebers had brought up about Shang Chi being friends/mentor to AF Quick Kick. S.H.I.E.L.D. and Iron Man, Cap and Bucky, Hawkeye, Blackwidow and Mockingbird, Hydra, Hand and A.I.M minus the super powers/mutants could work or have a place. People like Logan, Prof. X, Juggernaut and Reed Richards all have C.I.A. backgrounds. There are so many, that stripped of their powers would and can work.
Peter Park, Bruce Banner, Hank McCoy, Hank Pym all could be scientists that Cobra are after. Tony Stark and Stark Ind. as the counter point to Destro and M.A.R.S.. |
