The Track Viper was included as the driver of the HISS II in 1989. The figure was a solid upgrade to the design of the HISS Driver, but also provided a better name that could have been mildly retconned to cover the HISS Driver as well. But that didn't take, and Track Viper remains mostly forgotten.

It would be easy to think something like "Hasbro didn't care". But even if that were true, I don't think the sculptor(s) would have intentionally made something so mis-scaled, especially when the figures were otherwise fantastic. A larger head and a HISS Driver color set repaint would have improved Track Viper, to be sure. |

Could he have been inspired by ROM?

Now I can't unsee it.
The Sonic Fighters Zap head always struck me as having been intentionally modeled after Clark Cable, right down the ears. In 1992(?), most people our age wouldn't be too familiar with him. Makes me wonder if the sculptors intentionally focused on celebrities who had aged out of the limelight, for fear of lawsuits and bad press and such? |
