Hisstank exclusive contest...
Jim Sorenson has allowed me to give away some copies of his upcoming book... No fancy title for this contest... And don't submit old shit... aka don't cheat. PRIZE?! 3 winners from this thread will win this book http://www.hisstank.com/forum/g-i-jo...odel-book.html Basically here's the deal... you have two ways to win... you can either take the podcast challenge (tba) OR you can submit an entry here and win... The book doesn't come out till summer so don't get all excited just yet. I know what you're thinking... FAN ART CONTEST?! I can't draw! I can't paint! I don't even have thumbs! Well you're in luck... for this "fan art" contest... almost anything goes. Art, drawings, sketches, paintings, digital renderings, recolours, edits, photoshopped pics, funny captioned screen shots, comic strips, graffiti (let's keep it within legal confines aka don't go tagging Hasbro HQ), screen shot stories (ie taking unrelated screen shots and making a story)... IT MUST BE 2D... as long as it is 2D and contains no 3D items... it will be considered... 3D renderings are fine... 3D objects...like actual photographed objects are not... AKA NO TOYS... no photographs of anything that is NOT cartoon or animated or drawn. So no photoshopping a figure into a picture etc. No photoshopping a picture of yourself or a building that isn't drawn or digitall rendered etc. Basically NO "REAL" OBJECTS can be used or added. So if you want to take a screen shot of Cross Country punching a shark from the Sunbow series and add to it or simply toss a caption on it or photoshop in some snorks... that's fine. As long as it has a GI JOE element it doesn't necessarily need to make sense or be in context. (Does that make sense?). And as long as it only contains 2D "art." THE RULES: HERE IS THE MEAT: ALL ENTRIES MUST BE SUNBOW IN NATURE. SO ALL ART/DRAWINGS/IMAGES MUST BE SUNBOW OR SUNBOW INSPIRED WITH VERY LITTLE WIGGLE ROOM FOR INTERPRETATION. THAT MEANS THAT FANCY SKETCH YOU DID OF SHADOWTRACKER LAST YEAR ISN'T GONNA DO YOU MUCH GOOD UNLESS YOU MAGICALLY MADE HIM SUNBOW-STYLE. So if you want to do some Sunbow graffiti... fine. Just make sure it is inspired by Sunbow. By that I mean a scene from one of the episodes or a logo or a phrase etc. If you want to submit a funny story of mashed-up/cut-up/re-arranged/unrelated Sunbow screen caps... knock yourself out. If you want to draw models or turn-arounds for characters that were not in the cartoon... like say ShadowTracker but do it "Sunbow style" art-wise... cool!!! If you want to do a full colour sketch of Sunbow Lady Jaye and Sunbow Covergirl having a pillow fight... please do. If you just want to do something totally abstract or crazy like a collage of Sunbow images or pieces... go ahead. If you want to just do recolours/redecos... if that's your thing... give it a go. Don't assume that humor will win the day though. Serious entries and humorous entries are both encouraged. You can enter as many times as you like. Contest ENDS May 1st. 3 WINNERS for the art contest. So 3 people will win a copy of Jim Sorenson's Sunbow ark book. I will ask Jim if he will kindly judge the contest. So pretty much anything goes as long as it is something original in the sense that it is done for this contest... and anything goes as long as it is OBVIOUSLY Sunbow in nature. Again some examples of what is acceptable... - mash up of screen shots that out of context are hilarious or disturbing... - original art in the Sunbow style... - stick figures fighting B.A.T.'s - "kit bashed" animation stills... like taking pieces of character stills and cobbling them together into a new character... - etc etc NO TOYS. NO FIGURES. NO REAL WORLD PICTURES. NO CHEATING. Questions?!?!??!? Post all entries in this thread. And please check to see if things have been updated in this post due to confusion or questions people have. Be creative. Be original. Please ask questions. I tried to design this contest so even the most artistically challenged (like myself) people could enter. Literally anyone can do this... creativity is key... "fan art" in the loosest possible terms... OR just blow everyone's mind with some serious art!!! For those of you who don't think they'd even be able to pull any of this off... 2 copies will also be given away on the JoeDeclassified Podcast. But that's a different thread. Heheheh. Keep an eye out for that tomorrow.
