Just remember that FrenzyRumble has been selling for a long time. I believe that once you get your name out there for a while youll do alot better. But for now youll have to just enjoy making these customs and enjoy the hobby. Ask around with some of the better know customizers like TTT and others. Im sure that they could give you some pointers if you would like to turn customizing into a well enough business.
Yeah Frenzy Rumble started in 2007 I think, and like I said I don't claim to be at his level yet, I would just be happy with a small piece of that pie for now.

customs selling are a weird market...when i was doing old marvelegends custom i had figures that i put a azzload of work and detail into and they didnt sell for much...yet i made a pete wisdom (from excalibur and the mini series pryde and wisdom) out of a head from the brown and orange 80's wolvie display and a spare prof x body. took me a total of ten mintes to paint and put together and it went for 125 bucks so it just a matter of buyer and prespective. then again i did sell my Deadly genesis team for 385 so....i guess it all depends on the person buying.

To me, it takes some serious guts to sell a custom. Why? Because there is a good chance someone is going to receive it and then rate the poor seller low because it isn't all that they dreamed it to be. Besides that, you really are putting your ego out there: if it doesn't go as high as you hope, it is like people saying you didn't do a good job.
My thing with customs is this: I'm not bidding well over what Hasbro might charge for a new figure. I customize all the time and I realize how much it costs to make a great figure. But I also realize that the costs really get inflated by people too. I could say one figure costs 25 dollars if I add up the amount for a bottle of paint, glue, how much each figure costs at retail, etc. But I do it because it is fun to me. And I realize as well that the bottle of paint will be used for another figure (assuming I don't forget to put the top on it good!), and that the arms and accessories of the one guy will be used for another one day, and then I look at things in a new perspective. I appreciate you, Zartanman, for putting your work out there. But at the same time, instead of thinking in terms of profit, think, "Did I have fun making it? Would I make it if no one ever bought another?"

I'm just trying to judge based on what factors it didn't sell well, based on how popular the SE & SS Resolute customs were I thought Resolute Zartan would do better. But I appreciate your comment, and yes I LOVE making customs thats why I intend on making it a business as I know several others have done.

Reputation, following and quality is what determines price. The biggest thing is those that are well known for painting their piece and still allowing full movement get a lot of $$$.
Making paint stay on joints is what people pay for, especially on Transformers due to the continued use. All of the commissions Ive done have all been $100 or more. Once people see what they are paying for, they usually come back for more. There are a lot more BAD customizers out there than the talented ones so its a daily fight.

i really believe it has to do with recognition of the name. an where the toy was showcased, an how many wows in replies it recieved. i really dont know. i ain't really into buying customs. if it will have after market paint applied to it, i will do it. cus you never know anyones work better then your own. they may of skipped a step an it may look great, but it may chip/peel an what not in a short future. i see great customs all the time, but i wouldnt buy one. no matter who made it.. i just like to look at ppls work on the tank..

it's completely random, dude. i've seen customs that look like complete crap go for ridiculous amounts of money. hell, i've been selling imperial knights with simple head swaps for $25 a pop; how crazy is that? all i can say is have fun with your customizing, start your figs off at the least you're willing to take for them and even throw on a crazy BIN for that collector that's got money to blow...
