WoW, That Lady Jaye looks amazing man! The head construction is definitely an upgrade from any other Jaye figure and the face painting looks awesome! For me it’s a bummer when I don’t get the eyes right with my customs and you made hers so nice! No googly eyes!
Ive been wanting to do that with that CC as well haha, But I’ve been hoping Hasbro would do it for me instead... such a nice sculpt.

Having watched your work, this means a lot. Anyone can tell how particular you are about painting faces carefully. You reminded me that while the photos are fairly self-explanatory for the hair carving and sculpting, I didn't say much about the face painting... |

LJ was not a full face repaint, but involved the following: scrubbing off factory lip paint, scrubbing off where lower irises covered the lower eyelids (compare left with middle pictures below), removing bangs leaving the right eye partially undone as a result; and painting: extending the right eyebrow, then finishing the right eye's sclera and lashes, light touch up to the eyeliner on the left eye as well, and painting the lips. Most importantly, extending the irises to be wider at the upper eyelid margin -Gotta have the irises partially covered by the upper eyelids or it looks wierd.

On page one I showed a quick and dirty cast molding method using glue and green stuff. Not a good method for serious and detailed casting, but fun nonetheless and quite cheap if you're not casting often. This time I tried casting the sunglasses off of a Jurassic World figure. Like before, I made a small box out of cut up credit card and electrical tape to hold a small amount of glue, then stuck the face in while the glue was still hot and let cool. Trimmed up the glasses under magnification, glued them on a Steel Brigade head I had sanded down to remove the ribbing. I also can't unsee that this head has no ears, after HHFF mentioned it, (https://www.hisstank.com/forum/5290276-post163.html), so I sculpted some ears on him. It's best to drill a little hole where an ear will be so the greenstuff is more stable: The whole thing still needs a bit of sanding and more greenstuff added to around his new wrap eyewear. In the future I might only use this process for extra pouches and such. There are always going to be bubbles to fill in. EDIT: trimmed, sanded and painted: EDIT 2: Updated pictures with final paint in camoflage and a second version (same method using cast goggles instead of glasses and a 25th Cobra Eel head: Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 12-07-2020 at 09:45 PM.. |

I’m really liking the new update pictures. CC looks good; I’m scratching my head trying to figure out how you got as far as you did, haha. And c’mon, that Lady Jaye is so smooth. Really clever and great sculpting.

Time to use this slightly tired head sculpt for something else, so Duke is going undercover. Shaved his head and trimmed his chin. No actual paint yet, just practicing the look with photoshop (actually GIMP).

Thank you for the encouragement KR. I may yet finish that CC and write it up better at some point. I want it to work, but I've dragged my heels because I just know the articulation may not be be what I wanted.

I said before that I liked the Retaliation Jaye headsculpt, but the paint was fucking dreadful from Hasbro.
Your brilliant repaint really shows how nice that sculpt could be. You say it wasn't a full repaint, but it was pretty close.
