What's up guys, just popping in to post up a log of my first real custom. I hope this isn't going to be a case where my ambition is bigger than my ability (quoted from someone on this board).
I only recently got back into collecting GI Joe toys, and the Dragonhawk XH1 is the first of the new era vehicles that I got. The picture on the box wasn't too bad, but the actual product isn't that great. There is a lot to be desired. Current Plans: -Add cockpit (will have to be scratch built) -Reconfigure weapons systems... kinda wanted a giant camera on the front but I don't think a single-piloted copter of this nature would have one. -I did like the playability feature that the Sigma 6 Dragonhawk had... where it was able to carry other vehicles. I don't quite want to do that with this, but I do want to figure out how to get a tow hook mechanism for this Just cut up some paper for test of concept. Will have to take some better measurements and then cut into styrene sheets. I added a picture of what the design is based on. Also, probably going to replace the plastic handles and replace them with ones that look like joysticks. EDIT: After looking at a bunch of pictures of different helicopters, I don't think any of them had any window visibility hindered by console parts. I'll just have to lower it a bit to make it look almost like a sleeping bag for the pilot's legs. That being said, should I just get rid of the strange doohicky by the pilots feet? I appreciate all advice and help I can get!

If that is a FLIR turret in the one helicopter pic and not just a camera system I would scratch one up and add it. Looks like a FLIR turret...

It's the actual scratch-building that I don't make time for.

My mind does a lot of wandering and ges distracted easily. I figured that I didn't want to move on with this without having a proper Wild Bill. Here's my current status on the dude...
Just gotta find good holsters that aren't giant saddlebags and slap on a coat of paint.
