Why is Acrylic paint so good....it rubs off. When you bend elbows it comes off? What is the best way to paint your joe without paint rubbing off?
Because if it does this whats the point...you can never pose them with out having to apply fresh paint? |

Me too, I made a dial tone and the arms keep having paint taken off of them.

Basically, one thing that some people do is they sand down the part that will rub so when the paint is applied, it won't be rubbing. This is actually the reason I hardly ever paint my customs. I don't want to deal with this whole paint issue. People like using acrylics (well, for me at least) because it's easier to clean up afterwards cause you don't need thinner. You can just clean with water.

Rubbing is always a problem when painting customs. The trick is to sand down the joint areas where the rubbing is occuring without sanding too much. Also, sealing your custom helps too.

I use Fixative on my art. I do drawings with a mixture of different mediums and use this stuff the keep it from rubbing off or smudge. I just repainted the Locust to look like the original Dragonfly and the paint on the bottom is rubbing off. I thought of spraying this stuff on it and seeing if it doesn't rub off. I don't know if it will work but will post if it does. The stuff isn't expensive.

Its my first stab at this so wish me luck...... If you paint a lighter color over a RIT dyed piece, eventually the dye will darken the color. |
