@Hit & Run i really like your take on Zandar. I've always been a fan of this character. He was the most obscure of the family and never a big part of the storyline. Your rendition gives him more character and a great backstory. Good job!

We’ve got a red-headed theme on day one of reveals.
@Hit n’ Run - I forgot to mention that the Zandar and Zarana look good together - these are great HACKS versions of the Drednok twins. @Ian - Shane O’Hara the Bowman?? I like how you ran with it - The POC Beachhead upper with Resolute SE legs work great together here, especially cool shape for the red on the shoulder. The precise touches of silver throughout are just right. I’m going to have to try stringing up that bow like that sometime. He only needs a ginger-version Errol Flynn moustache to make me truly happy, though. I’m also waiting for someone to figure out a back pocket slingshot for a Scarlett custom someday. (Only kidding on the last two items, well partially ) One custom a day then, after today. No worries Ian, I like two at once the first day. I’m flexible on when I post mine. Todd, Axon and Ozzie, you can decide what days you want. Last edited by ARBCO Avenue; 09-12-2020 at 03:57 PM.. |

Nice build, Ian! I need to learn how to string the bow, too.

*1986 “What If...?” Serpentor amalgamation!*
Okay, that’s a rather verbose title...but it’s a bit complicated, lol. Taking the 1986 Serpentor, I wanted to give him a fresh look, one that modeled his first comic book appearance more closely (see pics). I decided on the bald head look from his initial “simulacrum” body (and figure), and opted for his Battle for Springfield appearance, playing around with the colors. The “What If” re-imagining was an alternate universe twist in which Serpentor did NOT succumb to Zartan’s arrow, but rather snatched it out of mid-air, falling short of its intended target. Hell hath no fury like a simulacrum scorned... Recipe: Head—MTF bald male Torso/arms—Gamerverse Ryu, neck modded, wrists painted yellow Hands—RET Dark Ninja, painted yellow Waist—MTF WWII soldier, modded to fit torso and painted gold Legs—MTF male, painted gold/yellow Feet—50th Zartan, painted yellow Major Accessories—Here we go! 1.) RET CC’s Cobra head staff modded to become a helmet. Taken apart, springs removed to open jaw, carved out jaw (female end of original spring-loaded weapon feature), dremeled a wide hole in the bottom of the jaw to fit head inside/neck post below, painted gold, white, and italian red 2.) 50th SS’s arrow, painted pink pearl 3.) SW Jyn Erso lengthy back end of hood, heavily modded/combined with a modded cape of some super hero (see WIP pic), painted green 4.) CC v34’s “cape chain/Cobra symbols,” painted gold and Italian Red 5.) 50th Kwinn’s belt, modded and painted yellow 6.) RET CC’s Cobra symbol kneecap-turned-belt buckle, modded/painted green and italian red 7.) CC staff, painted gold, blue, and green. Minor accessories: handgun and knife (painted black) from some Joe figure, knife sheath, leg panel (both painted yellow), and thigh clip (painted gold) from MTF. Weird snake dagger from BFS

I appreciate it, been a lot of fun merging the BF lines with my Joes & Marauder stuff to give some guys a different feel now. And the story with this one was so much fun! Quote:
Sweet, HnR!
I dig the comic backstory, and the idea of losing control over his chameleon abilities is genius! Assuming that’s an added hair piece, those can be difficult to get fitted just right on another head. Yet you did that successfully, complete with headband. Very nicely done.. Like ARBCO said, it’s the Barbarian head & hair combo, I was gonna use the hair on a different head but then realized certain BF heads had a groove for it to really grab on to the head so I implemented the longer hair & beard into my story. Quote:
H&R, wow! The headband on the barbarian head really works for a grizzled Zandar. I bet a lot of people will borrow that idea now. That guy can definitely wear pink in any decade without question, not just the 80s. Awesome how you developed his character with your comic. Those comics are a cool trademark of your work. Awesome first reveal for the contest.
Appreciate it, the comics / pictures take as much time to setup as some of the customs themselves so always awesome to hear that they’re enjoyable. I really do love putting those together. Quote:

Thanks! That was really important to me, I wanted to push Zandar in a new direction while also tying his colors in with Zarana’s to keep the twin aspect intact. Was a lot of fun coming up with new twists on the color scheme. Really like the green leather that Zandar ended up with to keep him similar to Zarana but also different at the same time.

I was hoping someone did Serpentor! I thought about it but couldn’t visualize the right twist. Glad you were able to!
The modified launcher head reworked as his helmet is epic! Such an awesome idea and you executed it flawlessly! Those colors pop so well together. Absolutely love this build, the paint job and the spin on the storyline! Great job!

Nice work turning that Cobra head staff into Serpentor’s hood. That adds a lot to what became overall a uniquely creative, imposing Serpentor. The way you made the the cape and added the Cobra symbol belt buckle were also very nice touches. I also like how you chose the Ryu torso for him. You put a ton of work into the build and result really does impress.
