I use a utility blade- exacto isn't strong enough- and try to split along the shoulder seem in both sides but essentially cutting through the inner person of the upper torso. Even if you can't get a full split, it normally makes a vise split easier afterward

If you boiled first then tried the vise that probably wouldn?t work. I use a sock and a big pair of vise grips, no heat.
