Hello, I was wondering if one of you could help me with this. There is a veteran member who has a tutorial for this, but I cannot locate it and I have not been on the site in awhile. I couldn't find it in the archive. Any help is appreciated.

Mix Glue, water, & the dirt (for color & texture) of your choice. (Recipe From my model Railroad days.)
You will then have to sculpt it to what you want, then let it dry overnight. Last edited by VideoViper; 09-29-2011 at 02:57 PM.. |

I used a glue/water mixture in a spray bottle to spray it all down. Soaked it pretty well. Then when it was firmer, I put another mix on the more detailed parts that might crumble or break that had more glue than water.
Worked great. |

yup, white glue, sparay bottle, water and any substrate..
another way is mix it together, and you can apply it like spackle, and mold dunes.. |

Thanks for the responses guys. I actually have done it twice but its been over a year and I forgot how much to use as far as glue, water, and sand. It ended up cracking and not drying right this past week, so I came to my source of help again. THANKS AGAIN!!

If you go to a train model shop they'll have little baggies of brown sand. A craft store like AC Moore might have this too. You can glue the surface with elmers glue and sprinkle the sand around.
This is an alternative option instead of using water and mixture. |
