LAST PAGE IS WHERE THE UPDATES LIVE.
IF THIS THREAD POPS UP AND YOU'RE ALL, "i've seen that stuff before..", go out, buy a hat and hold the fuc onto it. YOU AIN'T SEEN NOTHIN' YET!!! I was told I should start a thread to show off my art work. This stuff is not for everyone, and it's non joe. ~DS I would like to say that I have a BFA in sculpture, painting, and art history. MFA in sculpture. Post Degree in Videography. I taught myself marionette building and manipulation in undergrad. At that same time I was studying voodoo, santeria, and chaos magic to cope with some existential problems I was having surrounding multiple deaths in my immediate family. The deaths leaving only my sister and I with an abusive alcoholic oxycodone addict of a "father". This is a painting I did during that time period simply called "The invasion of the pig army of thought correction." nicknamed "OBEY". It employs oil paint, fully dried background, with an acrylic gel medium build up for three dimensionality in the mid ground, with ink and testors enamel highlights. Then when it was all dry, I used like two cans of poly to seal it over the course of 15 days. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- The marionette is my favorite demon, you know the one that makes you do bad things just for a laugh. His head, fore arms, and knee down are made of super sculpy and held into dowel thighs and upper arms with small eye hole screws. He's wrapped in red tape for obvious metaphor, I'm subtle like a T-Rex... 1995 was the year we started hanging out full time together... Lots of acrylic and testors enamel pens again, sprayed with poly. The demon's name is "C'mon maaaaan", which was what my friends would say when I acted like him...

MORE.
I like that painting a lot. That old saying, I don't know art but I know what I like? I like this. The marionette is sufficiently creepy and awesome looking as well. So, seriously. More.

The fiji mermaid was made the same way as the demon, but the teeth are a broke hunk of ban saw blade, the hair is synthetic, and the leather wrapped body is lamb leather, not cow.
The other marionettes are my boys "the four horsemen of the apocalypse, sans horses". The "war" figure employs real bullets and drywall screws in the head, and both he and "death" have sharpened blades. Famine features real chicken bones and pestilence has sharp wire hooks coming out of him. The idea being that they should be dangerous, even as marionettes. The blow up is of Pestilence, he's my bud.

Give the people what they want...
...So like I said, I got into the whole Voodoo doll thing, but with a chaos magic twist via Bonewits' theory of color magic. Isaac Bonewits - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia I'll spare you the tutorial, each color deals with different aspects of magic. RED MAGIC boils down to healing and hurting. I chose healing. Started making sigils of my self containing the elements of spells for good things and protection for me and mine. In the white pine "lungs" area of the abdomen I would hollow out a hole big enough to contain the spell, but small enough so the vessel ie. marionette could "protect" it. Creative visualization helps you not think it's a bunch of bunk! These three are important to me. The First one I ever made, the second one has ancient angelic script burned into his body, and the third is my "city strike" version, used in two movies of my own making.

This is the most recent sigil.
His body and head are white pine, neck arms legs are mahogany dowels, hands are bloodwood, and the black heart and shoe accents are made of ebony wood, only used a little because it is really hard and that makes carving a bitch. Chest cavity is packed with my recipe for bravery and courage capped with wax and the heart, then I used laquer over the course of three months. Spray him down, let him dry, spray him down, let him dry, you get the idea. Worked on the five foot by three foot dio using gravel, west marine boat epoxy, spray paint, and other things that could get me banned if I write them down...
