Actually, when DNJ started posting, i got really pissed off, i thought "damned noob!", then i recognized his works and thought "wtf is happening"... Will it be too much to have a sticky thread, with links? I mean, one of the super-duper guys do a thread, and customizers simply post the links there. No comments, no opinions, just stuff like "here are my Stalker, City strike SE, and Raptor in dove disguise: hhtppsf:thsysgdi.butt" etc. and maybe a pic as example. We can always edit the post to add more, and mods can delete whatever it's outta place...

I think the best way that the custom section should have been done was for each person to have a thread where they can post their customs. Then the custom they post goes in a thread that does not bump to the recent threads section on the front page. Now they can just add the thread to their page dedicated to their custom and that would be the only thing that can make it to the front page recent posts.
Now there is less clutter and members can find one persons customs easily. A person can comment on it and if mods think it deserves to be front paged it can be. So basically there is one section that would have the member name and a sub section with all the customs that would show the customs but not clutter the front page's recent threads. Then the mods could just make a member index similar to the feedback one and people could easily find customs by whom they want. There would have to be the proper tags and such but it could work with the right effort. |

Trust me when I say I didn't just pull this out of thin air, I've been working on this for some time now doing searches for customs for every figure you can think of. Right now we are pretty far along but I can tell you the threads that have several customs in it are very hard to organize. If you read the guidelines I said it would be best to have one custom per page but if you wanted to do more than one I gave an example as to how to do it. There can be up to three customs per thread one custom per post in the thread and with the proper tags it would work. Where the example I gave had more than three it still was separated in a way that you could see permalink the post into the index and was named properly. Like I said there has been a lot of thought put into this and the way we are going about it is the best way to not only see and view new customs but old ones as well. |

yes. yours have been great to deal with. Hey guys I'm going to be asking for some imput and creating some polls in the next few days because I would like for members feedback on some things and would love to see what you guys think. Anyhow keep looking because some of this will be pretty cool.

ES7- I definitely think that adding a WIP sub-board, vehicle sub-board, and finished work sub-board would be the best way to keep things neat. As long as the guidelines for what a WIP is, and what a finished custom is are clear, then there should be no reason for folks not to abide by it.
Also, as you pointed out, using the appropriate tags will help with searches. And for those who don't know, if you come to the customs forum, and see someone's work you like, all you have to do is an advanced search in the customs forum for their screen-names and their customs should all come up (provided they posted them in the correct section). I know some folks might not have thought about that option until the index is finished. |
