Just finished work on a series of new 25th Anniversary-style customs. First up is Tollbooth! I've always thought that the Bridgelayer is one of the coolest, and most underrated ARAH toys. I'm also fascinated by the idea of the Joe team having a combat engineer, and this lead to Tollbooth getting the 25th treatment! I updated his design a bit (adding the utility/tac vest and sidearm). The helmet is now removable, as well. Parts: 25th Flint and Viper, Star Wars Crimson Empire - head, sledgehammer from original v.1 figure.
Next up: Sparks! Another character that definitely deserved a 25th-style figure. The elements are simple: 25th Breaker, a repro 1982 headset, and head and rifle from the ROC Desert Duke. My next figure is none other than GI Joe himself! This Joseph "GI Joe" Colton figure utilizes the head from the DTC 6-pack, a 25th Hawk body, and Alice gear from the 25th Falcon. Barrell Roll is the next figure, and like GI Joe, is also derived from the DTC version. The body is a standard 25th "original 13" type, the tac vest and head is from the DTC Barrel Roll, the Barret .50 cal is from Marauder, Inc. knife/sheath is from a 25th Torpedo body, and the helmet is from the ROC Desert Duke. The final figure is Kwinn, in a jungle outfit inspired by his appearance in the Sierra Gordo story arc early in the Marvel Joe comics. The head comes from the Valor vs. Venom comic version (modified to remove collar), necklace from comic pack, body is 25th Shipwreck, accessories are from the 25th Rock n Roll, and V vs. V Crosshair. Kwinn gets a "GI Joe" base because he's more of a misunderstood good guy, than a bad guy! To finish these customs, I airbrushed Tamiya and Testors acrylic paints for the broader colors, and then painted details by hand using both enamel and acrylic paints. Thanks for checking them out! The hardhat is a casting I made from the original ARAH figure. The sledgehammer is actually the one that came with Toolbooth. Somehow, I managed to hang onto it all these years!
