Hi everyone,
Now that the new movie Joe figures are out, I can finally start working on my alt-verse were movie Transformers cross over with movie G.I. Joe. While I am still fleshing out the story plot, I started to create my custom "cast" members as needed. Most of these are simple mods ranging from a simple head swap to some medium tooling. Today I will start off with some W.I.P. pics and finished mods. Lets start with the Joe team: First up is Roadblock. This is a much more beefier version thanks to the Heavy Duty donor body. He had to be this big to carry that .50 cal and the 2 cases of ammo. I still have to do something with the belt buckle, cover up the tattoo, and adjust the the rigging for a better fit since I do not plan on using the vest. Head: Broken Arrow Heavy Gunner Body: ROC Heavy Duty Grenade: cut off Roadblock's webgear Backpack: Rack and harness from Heavy Duty, Ammo boxess 2 Roadblock backpacks glued to frame .50 Cal, Ammo Belt, and Tri-pod: Roadblock Last edited by Jedi_Master_Ben; 10-20-2020 at 10:48 PM.. |

Next we have Flint. This is a simple mod. I tried the head pop by itself and the head was not deep enough for Sgt Stone neck post. I had to dremel deeper into Flint's head to make it fit. Once I achieved the right distance, I finished the custom with his web belt. I did not have an extra shotguns, but once I do, I will replace the current weapon with it. Here is the pic:
Head: Flint Cobra Disguise Body: Sgt Stone Web belt: Flint Next is Cover Girl in Impact Armor. After doing a Scarlett mod (further down the list) I had an extra Cover Girl head and an extra Scarlett Dessert Ambush body. Easy head pop, no modifications here. Here is her Pic: Next up is Lady Jaye. This one took some work to get her right. The head was not deep enough for the Cover Girl donor body neck post. I had to dremel deep into the head and make the hole wider because the position of the neck made the head funky . I used my pattened hot glue method and positioned the head on the shoulder at the correct height and let the glue cool down. I then popped the head off and cleaned any extra glue run off around the head. To finish her off, I put the holster that the first 25th LJ came with and her backpack. I did not want to crack the torso just to put on the belt, so I cut the belt down the side next to a pouch and wrapped it around her waist. I then attached the blet halfs with superglue. Here is her pic: Last edited by Jedi_Master_Ben; 10-20-2020 at 10:48 PM.. |

Last up is Scarlett in the camo jumpsuit. The head was just awful in that pony tail. The Desert Ambush sculpt is so much better plus the card art depicks her with her hair down just like the other figure. Again this head swap was not so simple. In this case, the head hole was too deep for the donor body neck post. Again, I used my trusty hot glue method and this time positioned the head on the shoulders and let the glue form a new ball joint. I popped the head off and trimed the excess glue around the head. Becareful not to nick the paint on the face like I did ( I will have to fix that). Now you could stop here and just have here without her backpack, or go the extra mile on this mod. I notice hat the hair in the back had an interesting pattern that allowed me to follow it so I can cut a space for the backpack peg to go thru. It looks like the hair naturally wrapps around it and with it off, it looks like a natural seperation in the hair. Here are her pics:

Now these last two customs are WIP and they are part of the Human Alliance Nest team. They are Major Lennox and TSGT Epps. I mod a head for Epps from a head cast of an old Stalker head. I am not sure what I am going to do about the body yet. I am still looking for a match to the equipment gear from the movie. But for the time being, it is a good space holder until I find something better. As for Major Lennox, I am in the same boat with this as I am with Epps. But with him, I am lookign for a better head sculpt that matches the actor. The scarf was cut from the Duke vest and reposstion to the front. I still need to fill in the hole from the back. The resolute vest is a temp until I can find a more movie accurate piece. I would love any help to figure this out. Here are their pics:
Again thanks for looking and please, feel free to offer any advice to help bring this vission to life. Ben Last edited by Jedi_Master_Ben; 03-13-2013 at 12:33 AM.. |

Some very simple, but very very effective customs.
I especially like Roadblock and his backpack combo. I also like what you did with Lennox, the keffiyeh you cut from Duke's vest is inspiring. I may have to borrow the idea sometime. If possible I would try and fill the backpack hole though, it stands out a little too much. |

They look really good, dude.
But dammit, don't cut the belts! I did the same at first with Hawk's, and i regret it. Simply take off the legs, and lay teh figure in hot water. Then just pull down the belt, don't be afraid, it will stretch, but will regain it's shape later. You'll have to maneuver a bit, pulling first one side ti'll it gets stuck in one of the leg sockets, then the other side. You can even take off the belts of the CGs (and they're really thight!)

Hey Everyone,
Thanks for the comments so far. Let me address them real quick before launching the new stuff. To be honest, it was quicker to just find a spot on the belt to hide the cut and reglue together. No big deal, they look fine and I did not have to wait for the water to boil, no steaching and extra effort forced on the figer and no risk of the belt breaking at a place I did not want it to show. Ok, moving on. Ok, on to the new stuff. For staters, I changed some of the first sets of pics with clearer better versions. I am still tweaking my camera settings to reduce the glare so that the flesh tones don't wash out. I will try again and will change them as I get some better ones. Ok, moving on to some new customs. First up is a new character I made using the Jill head from Broken Arrow Toys and Cover Girl's body. She is now Sgt. Barbwire, team small arms experpert and armorer. I was thinking on cutting the patch off an extra Sgt Stone head and glueing onto her beret. (Note: I am going to retake this pic later tonight) Next up is Breaker in impact armor, for my armor team This started out as a simple head swap as seen in the pic, but I later dremeled the inside of the head so it would fit lower (I will have a new pic later tonight) Next up is Lady Jaye in impact armor also part of my armor team. This is another head swap that required me to dremel into the head to fit the donor's neck post. Last edited by Jedi_Master_Ben; 03-13-2013 at 12:38 AM.. |

Ok, up next is another take on Scarlet in her jump suit. This time, I dremeled off that awful hair and pony tail and put on the 25th hair piece. It turns out the color of the hair piece matches the movie line hair color. Now with a differnt hair style, the face sculpt is not as bad as before. Here is a couple shots of her:
Next up is a work in progress, Dr. Venom. I had purchased an extra Stormshaddow just for his feet so I could have white sneakers for my Sam custom (see further down). I figured I might as well do something with the body now that it had black shoes and I needed a scientist for the Human Alliance project. I had a cast of the Doctor Venom head from TGC and walah, instant mad scientist I need to swap out his hands and through some paint on him. Also after looking around on other boards, I will change out his legs with movie Cobra Commander. But here is what I have so far: Next up is an update to my Sam Witwicky. I swapped out his black boot feet with Stormshaddow's white feet. I also trimed down the green pant cuffs to look more like modern bluegeans. Now he looks more like Sam than Mutt. However, I am looking into forming a recipe to make him out of all joe body parts. More on that later. Last edited by Jedi_Master_Ben; 03-13-2013 at 12:42 AM.. |
